We went on our 1st WDW Family Trip April 2005, it cost us nearly $9000 (including food, souveniers, etc.) for 10 days with 3 kids. (It was worth it - best time of our lives!!)

So, when I told DH that I wanted to plan a Surprise trip with our 3 children and our newborn (due end of June) the day after our oldest's 12th birthday he said NO WAY!! :sad2:

After much discussion we came up with a compromise, I had to keep the trip under $5000 all in. And, I had to cut my spending and budget to come up with half! :confused3

So, I have been doing everything I can think of to attempt to earn $, I opened up a vacation bank account, started selling things on eBay (who knew this savings account would help me clear my clutter?!), selling more on Craigslist, trying to cut groceries from $300 to $250 a week (1 still in diapers and this includes take-out). i am cooking at home more, packing the toddlers sandwiches instead of buying McD's on our days out, etc.

Anyhow, despite all of this I was still stressing about the coming up with half part - until all of you!!! First of all, Airmiles to WDW tickets is BRILLIANT!! I had no idea that was an option and already have enough to pay for a 3 day adult ticket!!!!:cool1: Now, I just read HBC to Airmiles!!! You are all amazing!!!:worship: I have been saving HBC points for over a decade and have never touched them!! So, I have a feeling that DH is going to be very surprised when I do come up with half the expense!! I told him hypothetically that I would cover 3 day tickets for all of us and the vacation home, he covers airfare and car rental!!! Looks like maybe he shouldn't have given me such a challenge!!

:jumping1: Looks like we are really going to WDW!!!!:jumping1:

:thanks: THANK YOU!!!!:disrocks:

if you think you will be returning, you can upgrade those tickets through airmiles once you get there for longer periods of time or for no expiry dates.

good luck.

you can also cut costs by having breakfast in the room, my kids wake up hungry anyways and buy the time you get to a resturant they are STARVING. Plus it gets you to the parks faster.

Look at renting DVC points for your hotel. It might save you money there. Also flying out od Buffalo is always cheaper than Toronto.
