There is a lot of muscle memory in being a parent….

I am a 24-7 stay a home mom to my sweet bundle-of-energy Everett, and to say that I’ve gotten used to having him around is an understatement.

So, when I stepped off the metro at Regan National Airport, and realized that I didn’t have the stroller, or my son, I did have a moment of complete panic- “OH MY GOD- EVERETT IS STILL ON THE TRAIN!”… that is until I remembered that my sweet little boy was safe at home in the capable arms of his grandparents, and not continuing on to the Pentagon.

On Oct 4-6th DH and I took our first vacation away from DS, and it did take some getting used to. I had to get used to taking escalators again (since we’re usually taking the elevator with the stroller), I had to remember that I didn’t have the mothership diaper bag to lug around, I had to get used to sleeping without the soft blue glow of the baby monitor by my head.

However I quickly realized that the trade-off were pretty great! Getting to indulge in a few drinks, eating hot food, having an uninterrupted conversation with DH, sleeping ALL NIGHT LONG! What luxury, what bliss!

BUT- with all that being said, I was still more than ready to trade in all that freedom at the end of the trip because sweet baby kisses are worth all that and then some! I love being a Mom, but it sure was fun to have a few days off!

SO, if you are interested in tagging along on a few footloose and fancy-free days of wine and food (and beer), dueling pianos, and mimosas on the savannah, please read along!

Here...and first

I totally understand everything you just wrote. I occasionally get to go shopping by myself and half way down the street I look back for the kids. The car is so quiet and lonely without them. Now shopping without them, that is a blessing.

Wooo Hoo! I'm in and sooo looking forward to your TR!!...especially since DH and I are going on our first NO kids WDW trip in August for our 10 year anniversary!!

I'm here and I look forward to reading about your adults only trip!

Yay! you started your new TR. Can't wait to read all about the big adults-only trip!

I completely related to everything you wrote in your opening post. Ed & I have taken 1 trip without Reid. And while there are some glorious benefits to it, it is so nice to hug & kiss your little one! :goodvibes

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way! One of my new parent irrational fears was that I was going to leave Everett somewhere. If he gets too quiet I will still check to make sure he is in the car and not still sitting in the cart in the Target parking lot!

It is nice to have a break every now and again, but my favorite part of the whole trip was how happy Everett was to see me when I got home! :cloud9:

Count me in!

Thank you guys for joining along!

Yeah! I'm in! DH and I discovered the wonder of kidless Disney trips five years ago (when our youngest was 14, yes, we are slow learners) and three childless trips later we haven't looked back.

Looking forward to hearing more!
