And there is just so much to do in between now and then. Yikes. Since it's a surprise trip, I have to do the packing for me and both kids. It's not so much an issue for DS5 since I usually pack for him and he doesn't care really what he wears. But DD11 really cares about her outfits these days. I'll just have to use my best fashion sense for her.

DH wants to leave the bay area no later than 2pm. So, the plan is to tell the kids I scheduled doctor appts for them early on Friday, which means I'll send a note to get them out of school early. Of course, they'll notice that the car's all packed... and gee, what's dad doing there with the camera? Surprise, we're going to Disneyland!

DLH reservations all confirmed (with DS birthday note), PS's made, early morning park strategy in place.

Now I just have to finish up my actual work so I can take a couple days off and not worry.

Wish us a traffic free drive (haha!) and nice weather over the weekend!

Super exciting!!! I love surprises!!!! :)

Have a fun and drive safe!

Howdy neighbor! :wave2:

I notice you're from Campbell...it is a small world as I'm a short distance away in Cupertino!

A surprise! How fun!

I've always wanted to do a surprise trip but can NEVER keep it a secret since I'm a blabber mouth especially when it's a Disney trip. :lmao:

May all your wishes for no traffic and great weather come true! pixiedust: (Since I'm from the bay area I know you're gonna need lots of pixie dust for the traffic part :hippie: )

We go one month from TODAY and I'm so excited! :cool1:

Good luck with everything and HAVE A BLAST!!!

Hi there neighbor! I actually grew up in Cupertino... went to Lynbrook HS. My parents actually still live in the same house I grew up in!

It's been so hard keeping my lip zipped. There are so many times when I almost started saying "And when we go to Disneyland..." I've had the grandparents swear to secrecy too.

Thanks, and hope all goes well with your trip too! Yeah, DH wants to leave early enough so we miss the bad bay area and Pacheco Pass traffic, and get over the Grapevine late enough so we don't hit that traffic in prime time (though that will be tough).

We are leaving the same day but staying at PPH. I can't wait. DD11 is sad that I didn't surprise her with the trip. I love the planning and DH won't talk in detail about it or get excited. DD11 has to be my sounding board and my excitable partner. I'll watch for DIS'ers there!

Thanks!

Me too! Although I went to Cupertino High and my parents still live in the same house I grew up in but in Santa Clara (I was on the boarder from going to SC High).

I also wanted to say I feel your pain on your DD's fashion sense. Mine has become quite concious since starting middle school this year. Just the other day we were going to 7-11 really quickly and I tossed her an Ariel sweatshirt that she loves (or so I thought). She threw it back to me with an eye roll to boot saying "I'm NOT wearing an ARIEL sweatshirt Mom! We are going OUT of the house!" Well excuse me Ms. I am a closet Ariel fan allofasudden! Didn't we just buy this not too long ago? She promptly put her school one on and said I can just bring that one with us on our trip in December since she won't know anyone there but our family. :rotfl:

Have a great trip! I'm sure the kids will love the surprise. Good luck with the traffic. We're from the Bay Area also. Hopefully you'll avoid the really bad traffic spots.

We're surprising the kids with our trip in a few weeks. They have a 1/2 day so they don't need to leave school early. I'm just going to tell them on the way to the airport that we're going away for a few days.

We leave 2 months from TODAY and I can't stop thinking about it...I think I have a problem.....:rotfl: God help me if something comes up and we can't go :scared1:

Leaving at 2 you shouldn't have traffic that's too bad. But if it happens then it happens, not much you can do at that point. I always just try to relax and be careful, after all DL is at the end of the trip! :) Have a GREAT time!! I love surprise trips, our 2006 trip was a surprise for the kids, I packed them both and we just got in the van and drove.....drove right past DL and the girls didn't even notice. LOL They were busy playing games in the van. lol

I've got my LG Mickey's so look for us! My DD11 will be thrilled to meet another her age. :-)

Such a small world. We lived pretty much across the street from Cupertino High until I was about 2 years old (then moved to where my parents currently live).

My DD11 takes hula in Cupertino, so we'll be there tonight!

Oh too funny! My DD11 had to get all dressed up with her hair done just to come with me to the grocery store over the weekend. Geez, all I had on was sweats, sweatshirt, messy hair, and tennis shoes!

I figure if I pack enough jeans, shorts, along with her favorite t's and tops, we'll be safe.

Can't wait to see you guys. We'll have to pop over to the park. The new Pixie Hollow is definitely an excuse. Let me know which days are best for you!!!!

Have a wonderful wonderful time! Be sure and take lots of pics and post a trip report when you get back!

Here's some pixie dust and hopes for good traffic! pixiedust:
