OMG... we are going to Disney and DDP

Thank you for those pictures, the food looks amazing.
I actually read your entire trip/dining report the other day :) Wish I had a generous god father like you!

It really doesn't make much sense for us to upgrade, we're planning a couple of shopping days and will want to eat off site on those days.
Upgrading would be around $300, plus another $100+ for tips, so we're looking at an extra £260 just for food.

We might book one or two TS meals as a treat, so far everything is available, I can pretty much have any ADR I want, February must be a quiet time of year.
Now I just have to pick the right ones...I sort of want to do Ohana but could do without the entertainment, food looks yummy though.
But also AKL seems a pain to get to without a car.

We had 12 nights of free DDP in August 2010 and will be having 14 nights next August thanks to Delta and the OKW offer!! In 2010 as some others have noted, we planned a 2TS meal at Hoop de Doo plus a breakfast Character meal as we were planning on two days at Seaworld. If it helps, we ate at (in B/L/D order each day):

2nd August – o/s / Typhoon Tilleys / 1900 Park Fare
3rd August – In room / Flame Tree BBQ (AK) / Boma (AKL)
4th August – In room / Village Haus (MK) / Captain's Grille (YC)
5th August – In room / Typhoon Tilleys / Hoop de Doo
6th August – In room / Fairfax Fare (HS) / Le Cellier (EPCOT)
7th August – In room / o/s (Seaworld) / o/s (Flippers)
8th August – In room / OKW / Mama Melrose (HS)
9th August – Cape May Café / Typhoon Tilleys/ Whispering Canyon Cafe
10th August – In room / Andaphur Local (AK) / Kouzzina (Boardwalk)
11th August – In Room / Crystal Palace / Columbia Harbour House (MK)
12th August – In room / WPE (DTD) / WPE (DTD) - yes, twice - at SW today!!
13th August – Fairfax Fare (HS) / Planet Pizza (HS) / The Wave

Note - o/s - offsite.

We certainly found the "kitchenette" in our OKW studio very useful for having a quick breakfast before leaving for the parks - we bought cereal, microwavable breakfast sandwiches and fruit - which also saved time.

i see you ate at typhoon tilleys several times - we found that the food at typhoon lagoon was much better than the food at blizzard beach....
in fact, BB was disappointing in terms of food....much less available in comparison to TL...

Disappointed to hear this since BB is the favourite water park of the troops by a large margin.

Regarding the DDP credits for a 14 night stay when do the credits start and end ?

Your credits start as soon as you check in and expire at midnight the day you check out.

Okay numpty question. So if we check in at 7pm does this mean that we just get TS credit or the full day's allocation of snack, CS and TS ?

You get however many nights you have paid for. If you stay 14 nights you get 14 TS meals, 14 CS meals & 14 snacks per person. Its upto you how you use them.

yes, it's up to you how you use them...
you could use them all the first day if you were so inclined...

we had some days without any TS, some days where we had 2 TS meals...

and we had days with two CS meals, some with none...

be sure to use your credits...
there are people who say - oh that isn't expensive enough to waste a credit on..

don't get into that mind set....you'll end up with unused credits at the end...

just spend your credits as you go along...

if the impossible happens and you use them all up, you can always pay out of pocket then..
but you won't run out....you'll probably have some credits left over...

so don't make the mistake some people do about being stingy at the beginning and not spending their credits...especially the snack credits..

Given we have been known to share 3 counter service meals at Sunshine Seasons between the five of us I do not think we will run out of credits. Most probably we will be left with some :)

it's really a ton of food...
you get 1 TS and 1 CS per day per person...and the snacks in addition to that..

and remember that each of the CS and TS credits include an entree, a drink and a dessert...

plus, if you buy one of those counter service combo meals, that's also included..
you know - burgers that include fries with them....stuff like that...those are also included in the credit..

it is a ton of food...

we don't normally eat dessert, but since it was coming to us, of course we ordered it....

at the end we were left with one TS credit, 2 CS credits and a few snack credits.....that's for each of us..
and i'm telling you, we were eating ALL time time....and we were STUFFED...

but still we had leftover credits (from a 2 week trip)..

so don't be stingy....spend those credits from the beginning....you won't use them up...

by the way, if you like the milkshakes at 50's prime time and the sci fi, you can use your dessert credit for the milkshake and also order a drink...that's what we did....i mean, who can drink one of those milkshakes and still have room for dessert?????????????????
