Ok. I am really "anal" about certain things. Spelling/grammar errors drive me crazy especially when they are done by big companies.

I get to work and check email. In my email is an advertisement from Starwood. Specifically, an offer from the Sheraton Phoenix Airport Hotel Tempe (I have stayed there before).

The opening line is, "Your Invited to Explore our Summer Offers"

Holy Cow!!!! How many people are getting some sort of advertisement like this?

Ok, rant over.......

Ha!!! That's a pet peeve of mine. I can't stand that error! I can't believe they don't have good people to proofread.

LOL, not a big company, but when we were in line to park at Carowinds(a small theme park), we were beside a church van that had writing on it. The church was called "The Little White Country Church". It said "Jesus Loves You and We Do To.":rotfl: The van was black and the writing was white, and looked brand new, despelling one person's idea that the other O had worn off. I was just amazed that the people who put the words on didn't notice it, and the people at the church didn't notice it. Maybe they did, but couldn't pay to have it fixed. I think I would have fixed it with paint on my own, KWIM?

Your right, that bothers me too!
:rotfl:

I'm just kiddin' ya. Don't worry, I know it should be spelled....you're.

That is inexcusable from a company!
I can't stand when I get invitations that say, "Your Invited." Ugh!!

LOL...but then you misspelled "dispelling" in your post ;) OTOH, there's a lot more excuse for one person typing quickly on the Internet to misspell something than for a company to do so especially on a van.

A lot of people who complain about grammar mistakes make mistakes themselves sometimes, too. I am the first to admit I make mistakes. But, I do agree that if a professional company is going to print something, it should be proof read.

Many errors happen a lot and aren't worth getting upset over; personally I find double negatives annoying, but they are extremely common.
Recently during our provincial election, one candidate running for re-election sent out a flyer which listed all the things he had been involved with. One item was "bringing more educaton opportunites to the region". I literally laughed out loud at education being spelt wrong in a statement about improving education :lmao::lmao::lmao: Honest mistakes do happen, but that one was bad in a printed flyer that went to every household in the region.:lmao:

Oops, I always proofread, but must have missed that one!;)

... Still, my biggest peeve award ever has to go to The Dollar Store. Once, when my kids were little, I picked up a map puzzle of the US for them. When I got home and really looked it over they had not only skipped over a few states, but had managed to shape a pretty large chunk of the ones they did include incorrectly. I still can't believe that they were so disrespectful as to send that out to sell here.

Maybe that's why the map was *at* The Dollar Store?

agnes!

I usually get annoyed when people point out gramar errors etc. but when something goes out from the government or a large company it ticks me off too.

I was going through documents and came across a pre-printed form for Child Support from the Ontario government. One of the bullet points was so bad I had no idea what they were talking about, and this was a checklist they used tax dollars for and printed up hundreds of copies :confused3

Wow, I not a big deal in my book. Sorry you are so put out over it.
I don't think it's a "wow" moment, or that the OP is "so put out" over it. Just commiserating over something that obviously makes an impression on some people, and very obviously not on others. Just normal Internet chitchat.

OP...I'm right there with you. So many times I'm tempted to send badly written communications back corrected. And no, I'm not perfect, and yes I make mistakes. But if I were sending something out in an official capacity, I'd make sure I had others proofread first.

I hate that too!! This past school year one of my DD's teachers sent a paper to be signed with two words spelled wrong.....I signed the paper but circled the errors in red and made the corrections.

You're kiddin'!!!! STop!! :scared1::scared1::scared: :rolleyes1

I am with the OP, bad grammar makes my skin CRAWL.. and she has the "right to express what she feels" just like anyone else... :furious:
