I have never seen this many people at a Holiday party before!

It is wrapped around to enter. The bus from Dtd to Cr was packed to the gils!

I thought I could zip in and out before my ME time.

Lots of lines. I rec plan to arrive early. The secret is out!

This years ornament is a pewter-like gingerbread man.
Also received crispy treat, and 2010&2011 D23 calendar. Some also got a paper d23 fan. Not sure how long those will last as they were most likely left over
Dj, m&m and goofy. Pin line long, drawing line long, and the ornament is passed out on the way out. 1 per family

We were there today and did not receive an ornament on our way out! Very disappointing. The calendar is a 23 month calendar that started in February 2010.

We were surprised how crowded it was this year also, thought the ornament alone was worth the wait.

Is the ornament the same that was given out at the Doorway to Dreams holiday party - a silver gingerbread MM. He looks very cute on my tree. Just curious.:goodvibesWish I could be at the party at WDW.

Yes that's the 2010 DVC ornament

I guess the did not expect such a large turnout. I had to catch my ME and by time I made it into the mmm it was time for me to leave. That was about 3:30pm. People were still filing in so they did not have the exit set up to pass out the ornaments.
I asked and they were not ready with the ornaments. I took a later ME and went back to get the ornament (not recommended) and they were finally passing them out.

I had posted a picture of the ornament on my trip report thread.

Here it is

Well Dang! I have all the other DVC ornaments, and this one is just too cute! I was so bummed when I found they weren't doing a MMM while we were there last week, and now I'm even more bummed! Guess I'm going to have to see if one shows up on EBay!;)

I saw 300+ in DVC Mike's pic of the line, which must mean he was able to get another 3,000+ to move out of view. ;)

if we wait until 4 pm to go, could we just walk in? Or do you have to wait for people to leave?

I bet the line was worse for last nights beause of the Member meeting. We're planning on going this week, so we'll see.

Well, I had never been to a party before and wondered just how all these people would have fit into the area by the IG. It was packed. When we were about 10 from the entrance, someone made the decision not to check each for the Membership card. I heard someone saying that that process was just too slow, so then we just filed in. I do think that if you came at 4 you would just walk in. We waited for a picture with Mickey and Minnie and my group, my sister, cousin and a friend. The official photographer was not photo pass, which surprised me. I haven't checked the website where we are to view their pictures. I hope it's better than the one the CM took with my camera!

A lot of people recognized my Disboard pin and said hi! My friends and I left around 4ish, we took the monorail over to the Poly to view their decorations. There we were disappointed, but we all think the GF was even more decorated than usual. It seemed there were more Christmas trees there than ever before. I never noticed smoke coming out of the Gingerbread house before. Wow..

Best wishes to all! DH and I are going offsite today to see some manatees!

I also got in the horrendous line and then waited in more lines inside. My only complaint was that it was so LOUD in there that you couldn't have a conversation with anyone. I met several friends from years past and needed a megaphone to say hello. As I was in the pin purchase line another member saw someone stealing pins from the rack and walking away with them- there wasn't a CM there to stop them. Maybe they thought they were free? Yeah...right.---Kathy

The ballroom was 18k sq ft. So definitely larger than the gateway area.

I went to the mixer, and thought it was a disappointment. It wasn't really a mixer--it was a dance party. In the past, I have always been able to find DIS folks to chat with, but this year it was so loud and the lights were so dim that it was hard to find people or hear what people are saying. I knew a lot of people who were planning to be there, and I couldn't find any of them in the room.

Also, the line to turn in the cards were crazy (although they did move fast). It wasn't easy to figure out where everything was located in the room, and what each line was for.

We were at DTD and were planning on going. But due to different circumstances this year, we didn't get a lot of VWL/WL time.
So we played the "whichever bus comes first is where we will go" game. Thank goodness a WL bus came first.
We would not have been happy standing in another line with masses of people!

Agreed! Not sure why it was so dark and loud.

I was there last week and the line was long. We went this week because DH was here and it was not as crowded at all. We got there about 3:30 and walked right in. DeeVee Cee was not there this week. They gave a map showing where to get snack, cash bar, pin sales, drawing boxes, etc. It was a lot more organized.

We were there yesterday and had so much fun! We danced for two hours. The kids loved it. Dee Vee Cee was there with her daughter, they were so funny. I video taped my 16 year old granddaughter dancing so she will have fond memories of here vacation home. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
