OMG so flipping frustrating!!!

I know you guys have to be totally sick of my constant complaining about all this but this really beats all. You know about my car accident and my knee is all screwed up. On Monday I went to urgent care because my doctor had no appts available. The urgent care doc tells me there is fluid under my knee and the ACL ligament is loose and probably ripped and I need a MRI. I am put in this enoromous knee brace and sent on my way.

I go to the doctor on Tues and she says the exact same thing. And that she is getting me a prescription for an MRI (has to be called and approved by insurance and they'll call me with an appt time) and she said she is getting me a referral to an orthopedic doctor.

Before closing hours the same day I get a phone call from the office saying I got the referral to the ortho and his name and number to call for an appt. But that my MRI prescription was still pending with insurance. So I'm gonna wait until I have an MRI appointment before the ortho because it's what he'll need to be able to see what's wrong and treat me.

So we get to today, 2 days later and my dh calls to find out where we are on the precription for the MRI. They tell us today that i HAVE to see the ortho first and he will give me the precription to get the MRI.

I'm ticked! For one, I've already been told by 2 doctors I need a stupid MRI. Now I get to drag my painful self to another doctor who will tell me I need an MRI before he can do anything or start any kind of treatment. I tell ya, my dh car is SMALL and with my leg stuck straight out, it is not easy to get in and our that car! And for two, I have had that stupid ortho doctor name and number and referral for 2 days now. But they made it seem like I was getting the MRI prescription and needed to do that first. I could of have an appointment for today or tomorrow. Now I see all this going another week or more due to all this insurance nonsense. Go to the doctor to be told to get an MRI (again), go to get MRI, and then go back to doctor to finally start some sort of treatment. UGH!!!

Oh and to top it all off, my very generous grandma is done... 1 1/2 weeks of watching my son all day long and my girls after school, she's not getting anything done and she's tired. So after today, i'm on my own with them.

I'd feel so much better if I had a definative answer to all this. What is wrong with my knee and what is going to be done about it and how long is it going to take. We leave for Ireland in 10 weeks. If I end up needing surgery, we are just going to have to forget the trip.

Bottom line, I don't give a rats flying butt if the driver was licensed or insured. That has NOTHING TO DO with the rental car companies general liability. Call (973) 496-3500 on Monday morning, tell them you were hit by someone driving an AVIS rental in Florida, and you were injured, and you want to speak to someone about their insurance coverage. Then call that company and make a claim. Tell them flat out that you need in home childcare assistance, and they can pay now, or really pay later. Don't be afraid to get nasty. I mean REALLY nasty. Tell them you need a rental. I don't care if you can't drive it, you need something large enough to ge to doctors appointments in, and it's their responsibility to "make you whole".

Have you turned this into your own insurance? That should be your first call actually.

Then call a lawyer. I don't always advocate for taking that line, but in this case, you must.

I find it hard to believe that there's no one who can help you. Do you belong to a church:? The PTA? A Scrapping Club? Does your DH have an employee assistance program at work? most employers offer this--een some of the smaller ones. Take advantage of their free services to call and ask for help--they might just be able to work something out for you!

I always love your posts Anne! You really know your stuff, you amaze me.

We have a laywer now, he's the best personaly injury lawyer in the county. He thinks we really have a case.

I did get into the ortho doctor yesterday and guess what, I need an MRI... lmao. He agreed that he thinks I tore a ligament in my knee and my foot has some sort of damage between my 4th and 5th toe. They are talking physical therepy, yuck. Having the MRI next week and have to go back to see him next week.

We've got the police report, totally faults the other driver.... she's actually already been issued 2 citations, one for no license and the other for failure to yield. I have 2 witnesses willing to testify if needed too. We faxed the report over to our laywer and our insurance yesterday.

It's sad but no, really have no one else to watch the kids. I don't belong to any groups or clubs. We try to attend church but mostly my grandma takes my kids every Sunday. At this point, i'd be embarrassed to have anyone in my house, my husband has NOT been keeping up with housework or even mere cleanliness! That's ticking me off.

And to stress me even MORE, my grandma is asking if my husbands mom can come in May instead of next month to help watch the kids while we are in Ireland. His mom comes twice a year, once on Julia's bday and once either on Ian or Hannah's bday (changes because they are within 3 weeks apart). She already has taken the days off and has her plane tickets for her trip next month so it's alot to ask to change her trip but we've gotta ask. If she doesn't come I think we have to cancel our trip :-(

Please call your church and speak to the church secretary to see if they can offer any help. You'd be surprised at how fast you'll have "church ladies" at your door. Really. I'm serious. And no one will care if your house is a mess. I promise you, they won't.
