OMG! Our Christmas tree is up!!!!

We had to get a new one (artificial) so picked one up yesterday. The kids wanted to put it up and we said why not. As big a Christmas junkie I am, it does feel too early. Oh well.

We'll put ours up the day after Thanksgiving but I'm really having to fight the urge to start some early decorating myself! I know if I start now I'll get sick of it by Christmas but I still want to!

I think I'm anxious for a few reasons:

I had to pass on putting up my huge Halloween display this year, and I didn't get my decorating fix as usual.

The last several months have been so depressing with all the economic problems, politics, doomsday forecasts, etc. that I just want some CHEER!

Lastly, my daughter is getting married next summer so, in effect, this will be our last Christmas with the four of us under the same roof and things will never be the same for us as a family. I want this Christmas to last as long as possible!

So I say, bring it on early and enjoy it as long as you can!

Thats great - we will be putting ours up next weekend. We are going to Disney for part of December, so we figure that we need to put it up early so we can have it for the same amount of time as usual.
On a side note, DH ALWAYS insists on taking the tree down on either Christmas or the day after. That mans heart is made of stone!!!

I took mine out of storage yesterday, but probably won't put it up until after Thanksgiving. I get bored with it too easily. For example, last year I had the tree completely dismantled by 11 a.m. Christmas morning.

DH mentioned going by the storage unit with his truck and picking up the stuff, then vetoed it after I got all hyped up. I purchased a new Xmas tree skirt last year and cannot remember what it lookes like, and can't find it! ARGH

We put our outside lights up this past weekend because it was so nice outside and my 73 yr. old mother is moving and next 2 weekends will be devoted to helping.

A few of the neighbors made some smart comments, I say who cares!! We put them up doesn't mean we are turning them on yet.

Mine is up. We leave next Friday and won't be back until the Sunday after Thanksgiving, if it's not up before we go it may not be up before Christmas!

I don't have my tree up, but have several decorations out, most of my snowmen, and my Christmas candles out with holiday spice tealights in them, etc. I keep trying to talk dh into putting out the outside lights before the weather gets any worse, but he is still resisting.

Thanksgiving Weekend here. Want it up by the first Sunday of Advent. We are also starting a different tradition this year. Gingerbread houses.

We always put ours up the Sunday after T"Giving... but I'm fighting the urge to decorate everything else...
I think it's cuz it has come so fast this year... and there are only 4 weeks between T"Giving and Xmas as opposed to the 5 we usually seem to get...

Oh I've got you beat by a mile.

Oh wait - I never took it down last year. It's been driving my cleaning lady crazy - every week she offers to take it down.

I had to leave town on Christmas afternoon last year so I left it up. Then my dad had a stroke while we were out of town. Add in some more hospitalizations for him and my sister - and well it never came down.

I did take the ornaments off of it though. Now I wish I'd left them on.

christmas deserves more than a few weeks between thanksgiving and the end of the year.
