OMG....now what do I do?

A couple of years ago, I was in a similar situation. I had become quite ill due to an allergic reaction to a medication. I didn't want to let my family down by not going, but in the end we chose to reschedule. I am so glad I did. I could not have possibly enjoyed the cruise in my condition. We had trip insurance. The proper forms were filled out and I was sent a check for the full amount very quickly. We rescheduled for several months later and have never regretted it. The only thing I would do differently is call DCL. My insurer did not notify them that we would not be sailing and I received a call from the terminal on Saturday morning asking if we were still coming.

I am relieved to hear your son will be alright. You have our prayers and best wishes for his recovery.

You may want to wait until he's better to go on the cruise. First of all, I think he will enjoy himself more if he's well. Also, my experience has been that DCL may require your doctor to medically "clear" your son for travel. My father is terminally ill, and my parents can't go on my birthday cruise because no one will clear him for travel. :( Whatever you decide, I am sending you Pixie Dust!

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I hope he is feeling better soon and that everything works out with DCL and your insurance.

*****sending my best to you and your family**********

The company DCL uses for insurance is one of the very reputable ones. I would talk with your son's doctors, talk with your son, and then make a decision.

Hello Everyone!
Thanks to all of you for your prayers and "pixi dust"!!!!!!
My son Matt had surgery today on his pelvis. His bladder is healing well on its own. They fixed the broken bone and believe it or not, the Dr. said that he should be able to go on the trip. He will have to do it with crutches. I agree with all of you, we should post pone the trip. Matt wants to go even under the circumstances. He is 17 and vary healthy. Would like to hold off as long as possible before I make the call to cancel or post pone. Guess I better call them tomorrow and see where I stand.
Again, Thanks to all for your warm wishes and concerns!

It's nice to hear good news.

Here's some more pixie dust for y'all. If you decide to go on your trip, hope you have a wonderful time!!!princess: :earsgirl:

It sounds to me like you shouldn't have any issues with the 72-hours notice clause, since the doc says he should be able to go. If things didn't go according to plan, and the doctor changed his mind, I would assume that was the point that the 72 hour clock starts ticking.

Have a great time...and good luck.

a broken pelvis can be less of a problem than traveling with a broken leg or arm, depending on what kind of a break it is.

I have seen many people go about their regular activties after a broken pelvis, the first time I heard this I was in shock because it sound like such a horrible injury. If he feels up to going then good for him, at that age I'm sure in two weeks he will be feeling even better.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

So, I was just thinking about you and wondering, what decision did you ultimately make on your cruise....go or cancel.

How is your son doing now? Hope he is doing lots better.
