OMG! My hair is GREEN

No personal experience, but salons do sell specially formulated shampoos to prevent damage from chlorine. If she's concerned or prone to her hair turning green, it might be worth the small investment.

The shampoo I bought for my daughter's hair (she swims a lot in the summer) cost under $10.

We use John Amico Clorimed shampoo, conditioner, and spray. You spray your hair BEFORE you swim and the spray prevents harmful chemicals from being absorbed into your hair. The shampoo and conditioner further treat your hair, so it is not brittle, discolored, or damaged.

Works like a charm, we swim everyday, and our hair looks great.

BTW I'm not a JA salesperson, I just really like the stuff, you can get it from your hair dresser or place that sells high quality salon products. I buy my stuff at Trade Secret.

I have blonde highlights in my hair and swim a lot! I use the salon shampoo's after I have swam, if I have been in the water for awhile. Never had a problem at all with the highlights going green!

Wow, I can't believe how much I've learned about "green hair" (and how to prevent it) on a Disney forum. The DIS never ceases to amaze me! :thumbsup2

:disrocks:

It has been my experience that it takes more than one day to turn blond hair green from swimming pools. As the mom of 2 blondies, I always put a little conditioner in their hair before they swim. It is supposed to seal it somehow.

:thumbsup2

1) Just leave the hair the way it is.
2) Tell them you are Irish and preparing for St Patty's Day.

I worry about discoloration, but mostly about the condition of our hair. Swimming no matter what kind of water, causes damage to your hair. I don't like the way my hair feels after swimming, and DD screams because of the tangles. That is why we use the products we use.

I have a pool and we use clorine and usually have the clorine level high
also. My DD is also a lifeguard at the local pool and we all get highlites.

My Pool Guy told me - When you get your hair highlighted/dyed check with the stylist to make sure they don't use a copper based dye. I did this as I was going to someone new and she said most people are afraid to ask and it does make a difference.

Just wanted to thank all of you for the advice! It is much appreciated. Now, it's back to planning!!!
