I had resigned myself to the fact that we were not going to get a summer room only discount when I called at 7 am on the the day it opened and was told that preferred rooms at POR were unavaible for the discount our June trip. Sadly I told myself that for the first time in many trips, that I had to suck it up and pay full price because we really wanted those preferred rooms. Tonight, 34 days before we leave, I, for some odd reason thought, what the heck I'm going to check on summer discounts for our dates. Guess what, PREFERRED ROOMS POPPED UP!!!! OMG, I could not believe my eyes!! I could not dial that phone fast enough!! I got the discount for BOTH our rooms!! I still can not believe it, SO excited. Now I won't have to pinch pennies so much! Yayyyyy!

Thank you for posting! Your post inspired me to check for myself and I was able to upgrade to club level at AK for only $150! This will be a nice birthday surprise for my husband for our trip in a few weeks. It took a little pixie dust from the CMs on the phone though because they could not original see it.

Very happy for you OP. We have had free dining pretty much every year since 2009. Sadly, last summer a series of expensive automotive breakdowns (two of which were during our trip to Disney and set us back a total of $2000) I was left so tapped that I was afraid if I put the $200 deposit down to get the bounceback, I wouldn't be able to feed my family on the drive back home to NY. Kinda funny now, but it stunk then lol.

This year we weren't even sure if finances would allow a trip to Disney. Finally, in March we were in a position where I was comfortable booking, but of course, free dining was not an option. To keep costs under control, I wound up booking at All Star Music. We have stayed at the Alligator Bayou section of POR every year since 2009, and we LOVE it there, so settling for All Star was not an easy decision.

DW, and DS have NO idea of this, and I won't be telling them until we get there, but the past couple of weeks, finances have been improving, and just this past week, I came across a room only discount at POR . . . and it was more temptation than I could handle lol, so I switched us from ASM over to POR preferred, I'm stoked, and they aren't going to know until I pull into the resort
