So I post off an on and always stress that I have been trying to get a trip to WDW each summer over the last 4years, but we always have (positive) reasons to postpone it.
2014 was supposed to be my year, and my plan has always been to book in January once I knew holiday shopping was over.
I have a tight budget and flights have been the breaking point. There has been no way I can swing the flight costs without going massively over budget.
So I sat my kids down today and we chatted. I told them the trip could not happen for 2014, but I was going to continue to save another year so we can definitely go without issue in 2015.
Throughout the discussion it was their decision to cut one day off (so 6night instead of 7) and we will drive. It is a 20hour drive from our place, so I figure we can do it in 2days.
As a bonus, cutting the one night also cuts $600 off the trip cost (we are going all out, DDP, on site etc.) so that $600 can be reissued into the cost of food/hotel on the travel days plus a bit to get the car a tune up before we leave. In the end we may actually come out UNDER my total trip budget
If by some miracle Disney releases an awesome discount (like FD) for our week than we can relocate that savings and end up flying anyhow.
So excited, this is the first time in four years that this trip is actually going to happen
