....and asked me to give her a ride to the store so she could buy cigarettes. I have never seen her before in my life and I know most (if not all) of my neighbors. Fortunately my friend is over for the night and handled the "situation" for me. She of course declined to give the woman a ride. I'm not one to see danger in every situation, but she really did look like she was withdrawing from something more than nicotine. :scared1:

Why do all the bizarre things happen to me???? I think I am a magnet for crazy people. :scared:

She'd have never pulled that stunt in Texas. At least not twice.....

I wonder what she was smoking before she knocked on your door?

She wasn't in good shape at all; skinny, pale, trembling, and overall sickly in appearance. Not to mention, she smelled. It's like I said, I'm not the type to panic over things, but this really unnerved me a bit!

I remember one night back when I was in college there was a power outage and I was in a dorm room with a friend it was probably about 1 am. There was a knock on the door and we just said its open. There door opened and there was a kid who looked exactly like Marilyn Manson:scared1: . We had never seen this kid before, he offered us an entire carton of orange juice if we could just give him one ciggarette. We some how mumbled out that we didn't smoke he shut the door and we about died laughing from the statement he made along with nerves for just how freaky it was. I should mention too that my friend was a guy and this scared the you know what out of him. Of course we had been drinking at the time so it was one of those things where you wake up in the morning wondering if it really happened, but we both remembered it and apparently a few other people had seen this mystery person. No one knew where he came from though. The whole thing was very odd. Just reminded me of that.

Omgosh! Chilly, that is just crazy! :lmao:I have never smoked before, so I have no idea what the addiction is like. It must be harsh to need one so bad that you would go knock on a strangers door offering them OJ in exchange for a single cigarette. :rotfl:

dakota-let me give you a heads up on a problem that's been reported in our little town in washington (sounds different from your incident though)-we live in the country and apparantly there were a few instances recently where a young woman comes knocking on a persons door asking for directions and claiming to be going to a somewhat close street-but not so close that it would'nt take several minutes to get there. the woman gets directions and starts to walk back to her car then returns and sez she's realy sorry to impose but can she use the bathroom cuz she does'nt think she can wait until she gets to her 'friends house'. the people who have let her use the bathroom realize sometime later that she's pilfered through their medicine cabinets and emptied their perscription bottles:scared1:

OMG! Who would let a complete stranger in their house to use their bathroom:scared1:

it's over 10 years and i still question the mailman when he rings the bell to make a delivery - poor guy....

trust no one.

Wow- I'm glad you didn't let her in!! She sounded kind of strung out...

We had a scary thing happen when we were newlyweds- we woke up on New Year's Day to a girl sleeping on our couch!! Apparantley, she was attending a party one floor above ours, and some time in the middle of the night, left that apartment and wandered into ours (we left the door unlocked accidentally). She took out her contacts, brushed her teeth, and took off her shoes and socks before curling up on the sofa. She also put out our cat, who was never allowed outside- luckily, we found her, very irritated, outside the door when we realized she was gone.

We woke up this poor girl, who was very embarrassed once she really woke up. She was probably more freaked out than we were!! She apologized profusely, then hightailed it out of there. Afterwards, we laughed about it, but it could have been bad if she was a psycho (or we were, lol).

Lesson learned- ALWAYS LOCK YOUR DOOR!!

OMG! Did she use YOUR toothbrush? Ewwwwwwwwwwwww.

Dakota_Lynn, that would have unnerved me too. I'm glad your friend got her to leave.

My son and his wife live near a big university and odd stuff seems to happen pretty often. One evening they had a few friends (including another of my sons and his wife) in for dinner when the front door banged open and a young man came running into the house with his eyes bulging. He flew to the kitchen sink where he spat out a mouthful of something and proceeded to stick his mouth under the faucet! My sons grabbed him and in the process of throwing him out of the house discovered he was drunk and had picked up a plastic cup my son had put by the side of the house to dispose of later. It was full of oil from the lawn mower! The idiot had picked it up and tried to drink it. I guess he got thirsty after drinking all day. :confused3 Oh, he told my son he 'ought to warn a person' cause he could have died. :headache:

I'd never even answered the door. Everyone knows to call me ahead of time if it's dark because Im not answering.

I had a problem with a guy neighbor this past summer harassing me late at night. I had asked him several times to please turn his music down as he liked it loud enough to vibrate my floors and windows and I lived above him.

Anyways I guess mgm't also asked him after I mentioned it in passing and he didn't like it. I swear he would wait until I would turn my lights out and be in bed and he would pound on my door for a good ten minutes. It happened for 3 nights in a row and one night I looked through my peek hole and he just had on his boxers:confused3 On day 4, I had taped a note to my door that said please don't knock on it again, we aren't going to talk and but you will be meeting my friend Slugger. He is quit swinging. Never heard from him after that.

Something like this happened to my husband when he moved into our apartment and before I had moved into it. It was his first or second night there and was asleep on the floor, he didn't have anything else, when he heard a bunch of guys coming through the front door. A bunch of drunk guys had wondered in thinking it was their apartment but it was the wrong building. They did offer him beer and food lol.

It's my house-I never answer the door if I don't know the person-especially after dark. That's why I have a security viewer in my door. (And the porch light on every night.) ;)

I am surprised nobody else would call the police. :confused3 Obviously she was in bad shape and even if she wasn't going to commit a crime she needed help (just not the kind of help she wanted).

We just had a guy knock on the door at 9:15pm over the weekend. He was begging for money for an old folks home.

DW opens the door, with Q and Fred by her side, and he asks "are your dogs friendly?"

She says "It depends why you are here?"

Hehehehee

No- she brought in her own toothbrush and contact lens case. I guess that's how she ended up in our apartment- she must have gone out to her car to get her overnight stuff, and only come up to the 2nd floor instead of the 3rd. She did use our toothpaste, though... :rotfl:

I'm with you! I never open the door during the day or night for a stranger. That's what I have a peephole for. ;)

We have had people pretend to be officials from the gas/electric company, the police and other entities. The news has made it very clear to not open the doors no matter where you live because some of these folks are not legit and are just trying to get you to open your door.

Isn't it sad that we have to deal with this? I remember the days when we kept our doors unlocked and thought nothing of just opening the doors when someone knocked.
