DH said we can go for 2 weeks! Our 1st week we will spend in a one bedroom at Animal Kingdom. Our second week in a 2 bedroom at wilderness lodge.

IM SO EXCITED!!!

Now, do we do dining plan for all 2 weeks? Not sure if we should skip DP one week and use kitchen mostly, or if we can buy DP for one week and use the credits over the course of 2 weeks?

I am afraid the DP is all or nothing. If you decide to do the DP you will have to buy it for both weeks. The only way around that is if your 2nd week was made by purchasing points from another DVC who made reservations for you. As which point you could purchase the DP for only one week. If you purchase it for one week you can not use the credits during your 2nd week. Your dinning plan expires on the last day of the reservation in which the DP was purchased.
If you are using your own points, your 2 reservations will be linked based on your DVC member number thus requiring you to purchase the DP for both weeks.

The two resorts will be two separate reservations, so you may use DDP for one week only, if you wish.

The DDP will expire at midnight on your checkout day (of the week associated with the DDP).

Have fun!

This is correct. You may feel differently, but I just couldn't do the DDP for two straight weeks. I would put it on one reservation only, unless you just love eating out every meal.

Wonderful! Congratulations! We'll be staying in a 1BR at VWL next Nov. 2010. We haven't stayed there in years! Very excited. :thumbsup2

That is great. If it were me, I might just add it to the first reservation and see how it goes.

Since you can add it to a reservation up to 48 hours in advance, you can decide while your doing the first week whether or not to add it to the 2nd. You can still set up ADR's ahead of time and if you decide not to add the plan the 2nd week, cancel them. Or, add it to both and cancel it when you are there during that first week if you realize it is too much.

The other option, which we will be doing with split stays is to use the QSDP for one part and DDP for the other. This way, we get some TS meals, but not more than we like. And, we don't want to cook during vacation so it gives us an alternative.

We are also going for 2 weeks in 2010 and I do agree that the food will start tasting the same after day 8 or so. Still, we are going to do the DDP anyway, but will add some non-Disney flavor to the mix by going to and eating at Universal for 2-3 days during our trip (or maybe even eating off site - - which would be a first for us). Even with that, though, I know that we are going to have to go to some of the non-traditional eateries at Disney to avoid deading eating the same things over and over again. We'll see - - good luck to both of us. :goodvibes

the way im thinking, there are plently of restaurants on disney, so we shouldnt have to double up too much if we dont want to ...

anyone know the bed configuration for a one bedroom condo at animal kindgom?

anyone know the bed configuration for a one bedroom condo at animal kindgom?

All one bedroom DVC villas have a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen sofabed in the living room. Some resorts (incluing AKV Standard, Savanna and Concierge-class rooms) also have a chair in the living room which folds into a twin bed.

get the deluxe dining the first week. eat like a pig at table service places. save the snacks you get with your snack options for your next week and use that for breakfast or quick lunch or late night snacks

If you eat 2 TS meals a day from the day you check in and until midnight the day you check oued..you can stretch the deluxe dining and depending upon where you eat may even include a 2 ts meal

bring some simple stuff like cereal or pop tarts, PBand J for your second week..breakfast etc.. and then fill in with counterserve meals..god way to stretch things, still enjoy all the food and save some money

can i do this b/c its two different resorts? reservations? i thought the credits expire after the 1st week?

We are doing two weeks too. I never thought about making the reservations for the second week and then canceling. We are doing the dining plan for week one and with everything I read I thought it would just be to much dining out. Now I have to think about it.

side note: Pickles, Is that a picture of your Rhodesian Ridgeback?

The Dining Plan credits will expire on midnight of the last day associated with the reservation. You could stock up on rice krispy treats I guess, but the Dole Whips would melt.

you can stock up on bottle soda or water. desserts from places like the kringla bakery, muffins etc.. and use those things as a breakfast or the sodas as part of your counterservice meals the week you dont have a ddp

also on the counter service meals, places like pizzasafari which sell you a pizza and salad you can not accept the salad and save yourself a few dollars..same thing as the fries and drinks on other combo meals

Do you have kids? I ask b/c my kids could not tolerate DDP for two straight weeks! The snack and counter service they didn't mind it was the TS that we did everyday. Although I enjoyed it a bunch they didn't like having to wait and would rather have had a sandwich made in the villa so they could get more pool time in rather than get ready to go out to dinner AGAIN!!! But that could just be my kids. Anyway I haven't ever booked the DDP again after that one trip with it.

nice... 2 weeks is a great length for vacation! we do it, but have never done a ddp- my kids and even me,get tired of sitdown eating all the time, there are some days when we all choose a can of soup in our room and relaxing over eating out again!
