What was I thinking? DW is off to a conference as of tonight for the next 2 days, leaving my poor, helpless DD2yo and DD10mo reliant on me... Maybe the subject should be "They're doomed!" instead?)

I guess it would be a bad thing for me to just offer the kids ice cream for dinner? Maybe I can numb them into submission with the Disney DVD collection?

Why in the world did I not beg DGM to drive up to bail me out?

Which end does this diaper go on anyway?

(Before any of you call child protection services, don't worry, I'm only mildly panicked, and think it'll be OK. I just hope I don't forget to bring their lunch to daycare tomorrow... Or, I hope I don't forget and leave one of them home tomorrow... Or, ... ack!)

You'll do just fine... If it were not for my DH watching my, now, DS's 15 & 9, while I was on various business trips, I swear I still would not have been successful in potty training them! Dad's do a great job - just in their own way! :flower:

You'll be ok.. Few years ago I went to Paris for 6 days and left my 2 DDs(then 18mths & 4) with Stu and although he was a nervous wreck before I left, he did brilliantly..And actually enjoyed it. This was one DH who didnt know one end of a baby from the other..(Could have been a BIG problem at meal times) :teeth:

Just make sure you have plenty of the appropriate supplies!
Duct tape
self sticking velcro
ear plugs or an Ipod

I usually put things that I need to take to work with me by the door...this may work for you with the lunches... but don't put the children by the door now, wait until the morning!!! :)

As long as you don't have to breastfeed the baby, you'll be fine.

the duct tape.....keeps diapers on kids too.....good luck and if you need help just yell for one of the cb moms (or grandmas)

Rent Mr. Mom and have a beer after you get the kids to sleep by midnight ;).

I left hubby for a retreat with a almost 3yo and a 4month old. It was an overnight. He tried really hard but had to call me home to nurse the baby. Now if I just went further away than 2 miles for home--he would have dealt with it. But alas--he otherwise did okay.

This cracks me up! My DW is a Flight Nurse and she works 24 hour shifts, so every 3rd day I have all 4 (12,7, 19 month twins) to myself. Thank God, I am able to set my own schedule! She usually has a printout on my desk telling me where everyone needs to be at and what time and any equipment they will be needing. Only in very rare circumstances am I called in to work then my secretary will (usually) run everybody around for me or meet me at the hospital and watch them in the office while I do whatever. I feel for you. I've been there plenty of times when I felt the need to call my DW and ask for help. She and my secretary are very good friends so she will usually call her and ask her to help me out. She brings her kids to our house for overnights or whatever.

duct tape, gotta love it!

Thanks for the encouragement, folks!

And for the helpful tips!
- duct tape, check
- velcro, check (that's to keep the 10mo from rolling off the counter onto the hardwood floor, right?)
- don't need the earplugs / iPod because the duct tape is working so well

Actually, DW called after her flight arrived to check in on me (translation: to make sure I hadn't yet irreversibly harmed the kids). She actually might have sounded disappointed when I told her things have gone pretty smoothly so far.

How do I set up one of those countdown timers for the 48 hours until DW returns?

Sounds like you're having fun. Duct tape is definitely the cure to all problems and things that need fixing. Good luck!

I am sure you can not do worst then my DH and my kids are still alive.
My DH does not feed them if he is home with them and he does not make them clean up or brush there hair. Pkus one time while I was at work my DD cut about 8 inches of he hair off and he had no clue it even happened.

Good Luck!!!!!

This reminds me of the video/parody that Cledus T. Judd did called Who's your Mommy??? Instead of Who's your Daddy?? by Toby Keith. Anyone see it????? Too Funny!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You'll be fine. I remember fondly the few times my mom went out and left the 4 of us with Dad. It was a sure bet we'd be dining at Stewart Rootbeer and then stopping at Dairy Queen :teeth: .

My DH has had DD alone on many occasions and aside from dressing her in some god awful outfits he's done fine and she's still breathing.

Ah you sound like my DH. He usually pacifies DD (almost 3) with large scoops of chocolate ice cream and cotton candy. Ack! :faint:

You're going to do just fine :flower:

Hmmm, seems like I am not alone! Yep, tonight's going to be nuked dinner, ice cream, cookies, and videos! Woo hoo! I will in one night destroy all our carefully nurtured healthful eating and mind-expanding playtime!

Regarding outfits, apparently DW doesn't trust me, as before leaving she carefully spread out outfits for each of them. This, I guess, would be ever since I sent DD2yo (actually almost 3yo) off to daycare wearing some of DD10mo's onesies. No wonder I had such a hard time getting it to snap on the bottom, and it did seem a little tight under the arms!

I should not have posted earlier that "all was going smoothly," since DD10mo decided to wake up at 3:30am, and stay awake...

Countdown ticker: 1 more day, must survive just 1 more day...
