OMG-I have become a hotel/resort snob!!

More snobs raising snobs. When we went to China this winter-staying in two 5 star hotel and one 4 star hotels- our kids said they really missed DVC- even with the views of Beijing and then the Pearl River. We're staying one night at the Polynesian this fall (complete waste but I always wanted to stay there since my first trip in 1975), and they're not too thrilled about that. This coming from kids who started off with moderates.

On the plus side, they want to donate points to military families who have a parent away on deployment or who have returned home recently, so they're snobs, but generous snobs.

I too am raising snobs! It's not so much the value or moderate resorts- it's just the Disney atmosphere in general. We vacation quite frequently and whenever we have to stay in a non-Disney hotel we are always comparing the sixe, cleanliness, beds, service. Point is...
NO COMPARISON.
My 8 and 10 year olds even nit-pick when we are offsite.
Becoming DVC members in 2004 was truely the BEST thing we have EVER done. I always tell people that it was the best investment we have ever made. Being true Disney fanatics and living an hour away we vacation there ALL the time- wether it be our RV or the resorts. I love that we can use points on campsites now too!

our last trip we ended up getting a flight the night before we were planning to stay - the plane tickets were cheaper enough that staying a night at the all-stars was worth flying in early, but we weren't going to get there until after midnight anyway. I'll just say I'm glad we weren't staying in the all stars for the whole trip.

My wife said the other day that she would have no problem staying at The All-Stars again or even PC. I just laughed. She'd be ok for the first day and then miserable for the rest. She won't admit it, but she's a snob now too.

Another snob here...

We recently went to Half Moon Bay and toured the new Ritz-Carlton. We both said that BWV seemed nicer to us! Granted, we didn't go inside any of the guest rooms, but the public areas are nicer at BWV. And at $500 a night for rooms at the Ritz-Carlton, it's just not worth it.

I travel for work, and I could tell I was turning into a hotel snob when I would complain that I didn't get conditioner (what the devil is "conditioning shampoo?") and that I would only get the USA Today instead of the LA Times...

We recently cancelled POP for the first night of our December stayed, now we're staying in a BWV studio for all 5 nights. Part of it was the fact that we're using ME, will not have a car and don't want to move, but part of it is that we really want to stay at BWV.

Bobbi

:lmao: same here.........
decided to add on a saturday night (airfare was half the price of sunday), & was thrilled to save the extra $'s. booked ASMu for $94 (AAA rate, & would be our 1st time at a value).
lasted all of 2 days before we cancelled ASMu, threw points to the wind, & booked the night at BWV extending our stay (studio, BW view).
i given up trying to convince ourselves that we can scrimp on resorts....
:confused3
;)

We definitely are. The only time my ds's did not complain about smaller accomodations, was on DCL.

Last year we stayed at a Fairfield Inn and my then 6 year old was sure we were not going to make it thru the night without a toaster and a microwave! He proclaimed "How are we going to live!!" :rotfl:

Last month we went to a graduation in a small town and my MIL arrived the night prior and stayed at La Quinta. We drove in early that morning and met her there. The boys hesitantly entered the small room and twisted their noses up and then the little one said "Is this Disneyworld?"

This month we were in a SSR 1 bedroom and my oldest (9) remembered our stay back in 2003 when we had a BCV ded. 2 bedroom. He told the little one, "I remember this! This is where our room is" as he tried to open the lock-off door. :rotfl: We are so cruel!!

I want to give them perspective, but Im a snob too!! LOL!! I cant even sacrifice a night to show them how well they have it.

I'll have dh take them camping! :rotfl2:

I've stayed onsite for years , 1-3 times a year . I haven't even rented a car since 1996 , I use to do town car and now use DME. I stayed at POP in Feb, first time at a value, it was ok ( I say that now knowing I might want to save points later in life :rotfl2: ) I went to front desk on second day looking to move to BWV it was more than I payed for whole trip so I stayed put. I came home on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning I called DVC to buy. I came here for about a month or so before I actually gave a deposit but it all worked out in the end :teeth:

:rolleyes1 My DW and I knew we had taken it too far when we got a 2 bedroom on our last trip and it was just us and our 2 year old DS. We actually had to go get a monitor, because we felt he was too far from us at night.
