SO for all of you out there trying to talk your DH into DVC, exploit the golf angle!!

We just booked a trip in May for a 4 day getaway. Staying at Saratoga Springs Friday and Sat nights (AP rate is $159 night for a Studio!!). My DH and DS (17) really want to play golf and since we hope to be new owners of DVC (on the resale BWV waitlist!!) with the great room rate, we wanted to try out a studio before deciding what to book on our points (Studio vs 1 BDR).

Does everyone else know about the DVC golf membership?? I must have missed it when perusing the perks booklet... $50 a year and you get a special discount rate for up to 4 people. For our trip in May (we are going to play LBV and Magnolia), the DVC rate anytime after 10am is $39 a round!! The resort guest rate is $99 from 10am to 3pm, and $59 after 3pm. My DH said that if he would have known that, we could have bought DVC sooner!!

Now if I could just get that resale contract closed in time!! :headache:

Does anyone know what you have to show to get the DVC golf membership?? I assume that if we are in the "system" in time, since DVC is right there at Saratoga, they would be able to give me something to convince the golf people to sell me a DVC golf membership???

With the golf discount, I see addonitis in our future!! :cool1::cool1:

Technically, you need your blue DVC member card but you never know; maybe some pixie dust will be sprinkled on you pixiedust:

We LOVE our DVC golf membership! The 1st time we got it, it payed for itself that day with 3 of us playing at Eagle Pines :thumbsup2

Funny you should mention golf and husbands. My dh hates disney, but goes only because me and kids really enjoy it, and it's a family holiday.

Well he loves golf, so we've converted the disney trip to a golf trip for him while me and the kids are at the parks.

So much for carry ons, those golf clubs will be travelling every trip from now on.

The discount is really great. $50 annual fee and I think he paid $20 to play at a beautiful course during prime hours.

Same with us. Since we bought DVC, DH sees WDW as a golf resort which happens to have the theme parks there to keep the non-golfers busy while he's golfing all day! He's already booked for every day of our vacation in 2 weeks.
I'm not sure if this answers the OP's question about the DVC golf membership, but we booked directly through the WDW website. When he shows up the first day to play, he'll buy the card at the pro shop. I think that for that he'll have to show his DVC card. However, to make reservations, you don't need anything. And unfortunately, the course by SSR, Lake Buena Vista, doesn't have any special discounts over and above the DVC discount that's for all the courses.

The golfing is GREAT. Its too bad they closed Eagle Pines but hopefully they will keep Osprey Ridge as a WDW course and not close it to anyone other than the 4 seasons resort guests. But enough about that the courses are great and the price is excellent. In the past I've always needed my DVC card when buying my yearly membership but maybe they'll let you slide since you are in the process of buying. GOOD LUCK!

When you get back tell me how much extra the airlines are charging for golf clubs. I will say that the rental clubs at the WDW courses are Top notch. Titleist and Callaway clubs.

My DM is on our DVC membership in part so that she could get the DVC golf membership. She and her new DH played almost every day of our last trip, and we think they saved more than $500 on this trip alone because of it. They didn't even tell their friends they were going to WDW, they said they were going on a Central Florida Golf Vacation. They didn't go into the parks for the whole trip. And they're planning another similar trip with us in the fall, although I think they are planning to go in to the parks at least a little with us then.

You should really try to play Osprey Ridge. It is a great course and I heard that Four Seasons is going to make it private so we will not be able to play it in a couple of years.

My 11 year old son has recently started playing golf with some friends. So for a treat I signed him up for his first "real" lesson while we are at Disney this June. He is so excited. If anyone has any die-hard junior golfers they have a wonderful deal on camps for the summer. $225.00 for the week, 9am-4pm. If we were able to go more than once a year, I would absolutely sign my son up. The info can be found here:
