Hi everyone! (I swear I posted this yesterday, but I can't find it, and it's not listed under my profile, so I guess I'm nuts!)

I decided to share, because I'm going nuts with the anticipation, and who better to tell than my DIS Buddies!!

DH got his certification to teach K-12 Art in 2004 and has been searching for a position in the horrible economy here in NE Ohio even before he graduated.

He finally got a bite and it looks really promising! He sent his resume electronically on Wednesday night, got a call back on Thursday morning, and had his interview yesterday, which he said went really, really well. He actually thinks that he's going to get the position! DH never ever thinks he's going to get anything, so this is a big deal. From what he's told me about the interview, I can definitely see why he thinks it's going to happen.

Anyway, he has another interview with the Vice Principal on Friday, so hopefully we'll know something then. The teachers have to report on Monday, so they are running out of time.

Of course this kills my disney vacation plans for next October, but I'll live!

Everyone cross your fingers for me and DH!

Thanks for listening. I'm going nuts with the waiting!

OK, fingers are crossed. Hope he gets the job! :cheer2:

Yeah! Teaching positions are hard to come by here as well. Good luck to your dh!

Isn't it horrible how hard it is to find a teaching position? When we started college in 98, the Cleveland schools were recruiting teachers from another COUNTRY! Now they've laid off over 600 teachers! It's nuts!

But thanks for rooting for us!

Maybe we'll do an alaskan cruise instead of Disney....I'm counting my chickens!! Someone stop me!

Thinking good thoughts and crossing my fingers that your DH gets this position.

AMEN!!

My BFgot his certification in May and sent out 65 resumes... he got an answer on number 63!!

He took a year out of his life to get his Masters in Education and NEEDED this job. He starts TOMORROW.

So take it from me, I know how you feel. I will be in prayer for both of you!

Thank You! Thanks You! Thank You!

DH couldn't even get on a sub list! It was awful! Hopefully the drought is over!

Crongrats to your BF Robinrs!

Don't worry, You all will probably be the first people I tell! :grouphug:

Bumping, cuz today's the big second interview day. I should know something soon!!

Oh I hope he gets it! I remember subbing and working a minimum wage job on the side, and DH saying "if you don't get a full time job this year you will have to do something else with your degree!" It was so hard!

I find it amazing that so many of you are talking about how hard it is to find a teaching job. I work for one of the largest school systems in the country (in the HR department) and we have a huge teacher shortage not only here in this county but in the state as a whole.

Okay, DH just called. He said the second interview (this time with the Vice principal) went really well again. The VP said he would talk it over with the Principal and let him know soon, so hopefully i might know something by the end of the day. DH is confident that he'll at least get a teacher's aid position, but of course the teaching position would be much better. I'm going crazy with the waiting. if DH wasn't so positive about it, I probably wouldn't be so excited, but he is so I am! :teeth:

Renysmom we decided that if we had to move to find him a job, he would find a new career, because we want to raise a family with our relatives nearby, and now they all live within 10 miles. It was something we seriously considered, but since I have an awesome job and a great family, staying here won for now. With the state of Ohio schools, we not be here forever, cuz i don't know if I'll want my kids going to the schools, if the trend continues!

DH didn't get the position, but he did get an art teacher's aid position. It pays more than he's making now, and it's great experience. Plus he gets to work with the kids and learn from someone else, but no lesson plans :)

He's happy and excited. He started today! They offered him the position yesterday, and he went in this morning.

Thanks for all of the encouragement! Hopefully this will lead to a teaching position in the future.

a foot in the door is always a way of pushing it open further......great news for you

Congrats to your DH! Hope he has a good year!
You are right about Ohio schools. I start year 20 next week (year 18 at my current school) and things get worse and worse funding wise.

I'm glad that your DH is pleased with his new position. I hope he has a great year.
