Jade, I want to apologize to you if I sounded like I was being a wet blanket yeaterday. I just did not want you to get there and be shocked or in a bind moneywise. It sounds like you and he have this all figured out and so my fears for you were unfounded. Please know that I wish you only the very best. My statements were out of concern and not meant to be judgemental at all. I hate to see friends get hurt whether I have met them or not. Now that I know you have each lived in California before and that he will have that kind of income I feel ever so much better. What does he do, by the way?

I hope this job comes through for him and that your move is everything you two want it to be . Do keep us posted. :goodvibes

To the person who commented about Arizona and college: The top 3 percent of all high school graduates have an opportunity to go to any of the staet schools for free. They first get a semester and if they keep a B average they get renewed each semester. My daughter went through 4 yrs at ASU for $0. except for books, room and board. It is a wonderful incentive for kids to keep good grades and stay out of trouble. She then was able to get other scholarships for her two yr. Masters there as well. We LOVE AZ for so many reasons but realize it is not for everyone. My DH took a $10,000. cut in salary to move back here from Texas but we are living so much better on less $$ I can not believe it. I can handle $800. taxes as opposed to the $3,000. we had to pay there.

Where in Arizona are you currently living, Jade? We lived in Glendale for 23 yrs and are now in Sun City. :goodvibes

no jade...I wouldnt go garden grove either...the cities surrounding anaheim are like minutes away from Disneyland...no time at all to get there...Irvine might be nice....um possibly areas in santa ana...oh anaheim hills....Orange...cerritos...Brea...Tustin is really nice...check out those places

What an interesting cost calculator. Made me realize why I left San Diego to move to Louisiana. Of course Anaheim was cheaper to live in than San Diego :lmao:

San Diego is
77%
more expensive than Lafayette.

Housing
is the biggest factor in the cost of living difference.

Housing is
231%
more expensive in San Diego.

Jade, sounds like you have all your "duck's in a row", good luck in your decision

I would choose Garden Grove over Santa Ana anyday. I think Garden Grove is quite a nice place. Not the best, but not the worst.

Irvine is WAY too far if you are using public transportation imo. And is a very pricey city.

Fullerton is okay, Orange is good.

Every city will have good and bad parts. Considering you would need public transportation if you moved I would choose between Orange, Fullerton, Garden Grove or Anaheim.

I used to live in Cypress it was OK back then. I lived in the shadow of the parachute tower at Knotts Berry Farm. But that was 20 years ago... i don't really know how things have changed!:confused3

schools suck terribly

Hey now, I was born and raised in Orange County until I was 12 and the public education system didn't do me any harm. Of course, from 2nd to 6th grade my mom drove me across town to a nicer public elementary school than the neighborhood one...

As for the car thing, get one when you can afford it, but until then, try to find a place near the grocery store and invest in a kid's wagon or find a place near a bus stop.

And, as So Cal residents, you'll qualify for the discounted AP rates. :dance3:

i acept every ones apoligiey i hope you all acept mine. wow thats a lot of places to chose from but alright ill remember what youve all said.

my dh dosent have a job right now were trying to find one this job was one right down the street that hes been trying to get. then the boss guy told him thhere trying to open one in anihime and knew what disney fanatics we are lol so he spoke to him and would want him to move for it IF it all goes though.
I cant say what it is yet but if it happenes i will keep it all updated for sure.

I lived in glendale for 15 years off and on. in a traler park. it was a nice traler park most of the time. (yes we had those bad ppl who love to steal but most were so called friends)
Im in PHX now thats where his parents have lived for how ever long they have been here It is a nice place really it is and we would stay here if nothing happens with anihime.

i think this would be grate if it works out and if not it just isnt ment to be. lol

We will keep our fingers crossed that all works out for the best for your family. We want you to be happy.....
