Just thought I'd let anyone know who might be interested. I got an email for a sale thru them. Basically 50% off.

I just ordered

20 ct chik n bacon chddar appet
8 (5oz) filet mignon
4 (8oz) filet mignon
8 (4oz) gourmet burgers
1 (6 in) choco lovers cake

for a total of $149.47 including the shipping cost of $17.99.

After I ordered I thought to check this board. My sil loves the quality, but I read that alot of people get phone calls from them. I hope that isn't the case for me. But at least with caller ID if I don't want to take the call I don't have to.

I ordered from them once. I thought the meat was fantastic; I just can't afford to order from them all the time.

As to the phone calls, I heard the same thing. I never answered my phone when Omaha NE showed up on the ID. After a couple weeks the calls stopped.

We order from them 1-2 times/year. LOVE the meat. After our first order, they called once - my DH politely asked them not to call (we are also on the Do Not Call List) and they have never called again. We just get the mailings now and I'm fine with that. And one thing we notice - if you haven't ordered from them in a long time, they'll keep sending you better and better offers in an effort to entice you back. We know most of their sales by heart now and wait until the one we like comes in the mail...and we pounce!

Enjoy your goodies!

Great food! but regarding the phone calls, they do start calling after you order from them. Just tell them you do not want to be contacted by phone and they will honor that. They never once contacted me again and only sent me the offers by email.

I love the Omaha Steaks phone calls.. but I don't think they like me

First of all they are very good about not pressuring if I just tell them I can't order at this point call me back in a few months ..

When I am ready to order I usually wait for the phone call and i log onto the website at the same time...

They tell me what specials they have over the phone and then I compare them to what's available online.. sometimes they are the same but sometimes there is something available online thats they don't have ... I just give them the code number and I get it from them .

It works out great since I get the best of both but the phone calls do take quite a while ...:lmao:

Hi all,

Can anyone suggest the best deal for a first timer? I don't want to lay out too much for our first order.
Thanks for your help. :thumbsup2

We used to get Omaha Steaks as gifts from a supplier to my wifes company.
The steaks are great, but I will also say that I think you can find meat just as nice by going to a local butcher and learning a little bit about
what makes a steak "good" vs "bad". And then of course grilling it properly.

Mail order gourmet food like Omaha reminds me of Harry and David, the fruit of the month club people. Their Royal Riviera pears are out of this world IF you don't mind paying $4 bucks plus for each one of them !! :)

The steaks are quite good, although pricey if you order them regularly. And about the phone calls.....they call, and call, and call, and call, and call. If you tell them to call back in 10 days, they call back in 10 days. They are no high pressure folks, but they do want to make sure you know about the deals. If they offer something you don't like in a package deal (like fish), ask about substituting. They do it all the time!
