i read olukai ohana recommended a lot by different people on here so I splurged on a pair. Could anyone who have them can give any tips about breaking them in? I read on amazon reviews they need to be broken in before going to Disney but I'm having trouble telling if they're not meant for me because sometimes the arch support rubs against my flat arches and kind of hurts when I take them off. Do I just suck it up and keep going so my feet gets used to them? I have wide feet with flat arches. Toms in a full size up are what I would normally wear but wanted a pair of flip flops to wear as alternative.

I have them and I don't love them. I have different feet though. I have narrow flat feet. They are very hard shoes, not soft and squishy like regular flip flops. I also have Crocs which aren't that squishy but they are even more flexible. They don't give me blisters but I tend not to wear them for a lot of walking. I have gold ones so they seem a bit dressy so I tend to wear them when I want a dressier pair. They appear to have arch support but for some reason I don't feel like it helped me. I am currently looking into Vionic flip flops. I have read a lot of good things about them.

I actually really like the Olukai 'Ohana flip flop. I have spent thousands of dollars in the last 10 years of going to Disney just trying to find shoes that don't hurt my feet. One year my feet hurt so bad, I think I blacked out most of the trip because I truly don't remember much of it other than standing on a boat from HS back to BWV tears running down my face because I was in so much pain. I have high arches. In addition, after 24 hours of eating Disney's heavily salted food, my feet and legs swell up into tree trunks. None of my closed toe shoes will fit after that. Hearing good reviews, I bought 3 pairs of Olukai flip flops for my September trip to rotate through the 11 days we'd be there. I purchased a navy and pewter color in the 'Ohana and a white color in the Kulapa Kai style. I wore them a couple time before the trip, once out to a Sunday movie matinee, and then just around the house a little. No real breaking in though. While the footbed is not "squishy" per se, it does have a nice firm "bounce" to them that keep my feet and legs energized and arches supported. The 'Ohana were very comfortable for the entire trip with no blisters nor foot/leg pain. The Kulapa Kai have a thinner U-strap across the top of the foot. They are completely comfortable any other time; but I wore them on a day after my feet became swollen and they sliced into my skin leaving cuts. I could not wear them the rest of the vacation. I took the 'Ohanas again to Disney in November for a long weekend; and again experienced comfortable results. They will be my go-to shoes for my next trip as well.

I love mine. Mine are always broke in before heading to disney but the wear well. If you buy at disney and have disney visa you get discount. Was there last year and did not have any at poly so they may not sell there anymore.

If it's rubbing your arch it will never get comfortable for you. Sometimes shoes just don't work for everyone.

I wear Sanuk yoga mat flip flops exclusively. They are very comfy.

I have two pairs and love them! I have relatively flat feet and am prone to plantar fasciitis so I need support. Not squishy softness but support. That said, these are great for me at Disney. The breaking in is more for you to get used to the shoes than to do anything to the shoes so if you're good with firm support, you should be good to go. I usually alternate them with another pair of different shoes and when I feel my arches getting lazy, these beat them back into shape!

I was very disappointed in mine. I wore them in the rain and ended up with blisters that covered 1/4 of my foot. That was our first full day and I was miserable for a couple of days. I switched to my Sole flip flops and had no further issues.

Thanks everyone! I've been wearing them inside the house since I posted and they feel great now. They felt weird and a bit painful but I think my feet just had to get used to them. My son, with wide flat feet too, kept stealing them to wear so I bought him his own pair and me a second pair to alternate at Disney! I may even get a pair for my dad who I inherited the wife flat feet from!
