Old tickets

We have some days on tickets from other times @ WDW how do they go about letting you still use them they are from before the nonexpire option was offered. Do you just show them @ the gate or have to cash them in for new tickets. We even have a option for a waterpark left on them ,are they still good also.

It will depend on how old those tickets are. If they have a magnetic strip on the back which is similar to what you'd find on the reverse side of a credit card, you should be able to use them at the turnstile. If they are older tickets like the World Passport tickets of the 80's and 90's where your pass actually got stamped at the gate, you would need to exchange them at Guest Services prior to using them in the park. Passes that do not have the magnetic strip would not work in the FastPass machines.

If you have a waterpark plus still left on an old PHP pass, it never expires. If there's any question as to how many days are left on your pass or whether they are still good, go to Guest Services and have them check it for you.

My DSister still has three days left on a ticket from highschool (so around 1990 or 1991). It's the old version where each day was stamped when it was used. Does this mean that she can trade it in at Guest Services and it's still good?

Your DSis' pass should still be good if there are unused days on it. However, some passes from the early '90s were not hopper passes. There'a an interesting history and photos of old WDW passes on Deb Wills' website:

Yes, have her go to Guest Services and they'll issue her a new ticket with comparable features.

I had a ticket from a trip in the early 80's with a day left on it. I redeemed it not too long ago with no problems. It was a child's ticket, but because I was the child who had used it, they redeemed it for my adult ticket. I didn't actually try to go anywhere else to test this, but I think I remember them telling me at Guest Services that since only Magic Kingdom and Epcot existed when I'd originally bought the ticket, the new one would only be valid at those parks.

Most likely yes. But she may prefer to keep it as a souvenir. It is Disney's policy not to give back the old ticket after exchanging it for a modern ticket although exceptions have been made some of the time after request.

The ticket or its modern exchanged equivalent should not be used during a longer vacation when a new ticket is purchased and used but rather the new ticket should cover the whole vacation.

In recent years the modern ticket obtained by exchange has been good at all four theme parks.

I used two tickets from 1990 in May of this year without any trouble. I was issued two new tickets. One was a one day hopper and one was a two day hopper. Animal Kingdom did not exist when those tickets were purchased. No restrictions were put on the new tickets.

The old ones were not returned to me. The cast member at Guest Services told me they have some leeway with what they are able to do but old tickets cannot be returned to the guest in any circumstance.
