Old Resort.......

Can anyone tell me the name of the time share resort that you pass when you are riding down the river on the boat from Riverside to DTD? They still have the lights on them and people say they are going to tear them down and they are full of termites......does anyone know the name of these? It has been driving me crazy!! Silly question but one that I keep saying "what the heck was the name of that old resort" Thanks all!

Are you thinking about the TreeHouse Villas? I know they are not being used and have fallen into disrepair. And they are on the riverway from POR to DTD.

Sounds like the Treehouse Villas.

BTW, they were never a timeshare. Just one type of villa available at WDW before the villas were all shut down in preparation for Saratoga Spring Resort which is a Disney Vacation Club property. There are all kinds of rumors about the fate of the Treehouse Villas.

Actually, rumor has it that several are being used by College kids during the summer. I know we passed several of the tree houses on our last trip in Nov. and the boat driver stated this. We were the only riders coming from OKW and had plenty of time to gab. Who knows for sure. I do remember wanting to stay in one when we first started going to Disney and the kids were small but we were unable to afford them at the time..smjj

That is one of the rumors. I think the boat drivers are responsible for many of them. Their version of fish stories.

I know someone who was an advanced intern last year and she says that particular rumor is false. But as you said...who knows.

Our boat driver told us in January that they will be torn down as part of the Sarasota Springs expansion. They are now in terrible condition. Some have trees leaning over on them, apparently a result of the hurricanes. I always thought they were pretty neat looking. Too bad.

awwww...i used to love those little tree houses....it makes my heart ache to see them let go
