Old Key West

Does anyone know if the villas have CD players in them??? I have a 9 mo old who is been listening to the same CD since she was born while sleeping. I just need to know if I need to bring my own.

Thanks
Lisa

The units at OKW do not have a CD player in them. They do have clock radios in the bedrooms for music, as well as the Telvisions. No CD players though. You will love it there.

My Grandson has listened to the same cd (Come To The Cradle) since birth, he is 11 months old.
We went to Disney when Logan was 9 months old.
We actually sent the cd player we use in his nursery via UPS to OKW along with formula, pampers, food.Just enought to get us through. The only thing we had to bring on the plane home was his cd player.
We flew, so if you are driving it would be a snap.
Have fun..

:) You're kids might enjoy the channel Disney plays on the TV that just reads storybooks at night. I don't have any children, but felt like one falling asleep to this channel:rolleyes:

We will be staying in a 1 bdrm end of October at OKW. Our first trip to this resort. When making ressie I requested a high chair. This is our first trip with our 6 month old so I'm not sure of exactly what type of high chair it will be, but they are available.

The high chair we had at OKW was wood, no tray,
Like you use in resturants.
Have fun.....

I would recommend that you seriously think of renting a car. With the DVC stay you get free parking around Disney, plus it gives you the freedom to go off site, for instance to the Publix supermarket since you have that nice big kitchen and fridge in the lovely large condo-type unit. The car rental will more than make up for its small cost with the added freedom, and savings of time and also money in not being stuck doing expensive Disney dining constantly. And unlike the other DVC properties, OKW lets you park right in front of your condo. Really I don't understand people who say they parked their car and used busses all week, but to each their own. Something to think about!

Chers :)

You are going to love OKW. I agree that a rental car is well worth the expense. You can get away with the economy for just over $100 per week. The savings on groceries and bus or limo cost will offset the costs. A car will give you easy access to all parks, other resorts and local grocery stores.
A second option is to hire a limo with a grocery stop.
Finally, we have traditionally carried an extra suit case full of goodies such as coffee, filters, powdered drink mix, nuts, crackers, microwave popcorn, jars of peanut butter and jelly, anything unbreakable. The suitcase generally gets filled up with souvenirs for the trip home.

Hi, I have been a DVC member since 1992 and love OKW. We always rent a car for trips to the store-Publix on 192 (I'm sure that there are directions somewhere on these boards) and for trips to the outlets-4 Disney outlets within 1/2 hour (and yes I know all the back ways to & from them!) and for forays off property for meals. For example for fast food we go to the McDonald's near AK and get take out or a quick trip to West 192 (the WDW entrance/exit closest to AK) for a big choice in restaurants/fast food etc.
Delivery of food isn't bad but I haven't found really good pizza in the area since my favorite pizza place closed (remember I am from NY and Pizza Hut & Dominos just don't make the grade!) If you rent a car, parking is very convenient just outside the door and quick trips to DD or for a meal are easy.
I have always loved Olivia's. The Conch chowder is great (a bit spicy but very nice), the brownie sundae is to die for and they are very willing to help. Once I wanted some sort of light meal to take back to the unit-at Good's Food to Go (by the main pool) they suggested the special which was grilled grouper. We didn't want a whole meal so they made us the most delicious grilled grouper sandwiches-my mouth waters when I think of it! You will love OKW!

My daughter and her family just shipped 2 large boxes of snacks and baby supplies to OKW last month, the boxes where there when they checked in. Ship via, UPS Ground, mark your name c/o OKW Resort, 1510 North Cove Rd. Lake Buena Vista, Fl. 32830. Also in large black letters, put "GUEST", "DO NOT OPEN" , and make sure you put the "DATE" you are arriving on the box. It takes about 5 days via UPS Ground. UPS and FEDX deliver right to the resort.
What ever you do, "DON'T SEND IT" via US Mail, it goes to the mail room in WDW, and takes for ever to be moved to the resort, friends of our made this mistake, they got there package the last day of their stay!!!

since I come from CT, home of outrageous food prices, it is far more cost effective to take 2 hours and shop for whatever I might want while I am there. Naturally, this assumes you have a rental car.
