Hi All,

We are going to be staying at Old Key West and I was wondering what to expect. Are dishes, glasses and flatware provided? Is there a dishwasher? Is dish detergent provided? Is laundry detergent provide? What does the maid service do? Should we tip? How much?

Any tips or anything else I should know?

Thanks for any help.
Tim

What size room? If one bedroom, you will have service for 4, dishwasher, soap, laundry detergent. etc. If you are staying cash thru CRO you will have maid service. If you are using DVC points, you will get towels replaced and trash taken out, soap replaced on day 4.

If you are in a studio you will have under counter fridge, paper plates, cups, plastic flatware, no dishwasher.

It varies a lot depending on whether you're DVC/rented points or are paying cash and booked through CRO. Will you have a car? If you won't just know that the resort is pretty big so you might want to request buildings 11-14 to be close to the Hospitality House. There is also an internal resort shuttle. That's all that comes to mind off the top of my head. I love OKW. :thumbsup2

We are staying in a one bedroom and are paying for the room, not using DVC points.

Thanks
Tim

You will have so much space! Over 1000 sq. feet in a 1 BR. Bedroom with King bed, jacuzzi tub in one room and separate bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. Washer/dryer (1 box detergent, but can buy more at the store for ~ $1 a box, or bring yur own, and bring dryer sheets if you use them). Don't pack as many clothes because it's so easy to throw a few things in to wash in at night or AM. Also, iron and ironing board, if needed (and vacuum, if you really need it).

Open kitchen/living room area with dishes/silver as described above, plus pots/pans, microwave, coffee pot (a few pkgs of coffee, creamer, sugars ----- bring coffee filters or use a paper towel if you forget), soap, paper towels, full sized refrig and dishwasher, and ? I think a toaster. The box of dish detergent will do quite a few loads, and you can request more. If you need anything else for kitchen, call mousekeeping ---- I met people who got extra plastic containers to store food. Bring some plastic ziplock bags if you want to store food easily..... they don't provide things like saran, baggies, etc. We love the simple convenience of having our own ice cube maker!

DR has table for 4, plus plastic table and 4 chairs on the balcony, plus ceiling fans. We like to request an upper floor, because some of the ground floors have a lot of shrubs around them and there might not be much view. LR has the pull out couch, plus a love seat, plus a chair and ottoman. So, small kids could sleep on the two couches without opening up the pull out. It is roomy! And quite relaxing at OKW.

If you have a car, you can usually park right outside the building. If you don't have a car and aren't within walking distance of the main pool, the store, Olivia's restaurant, etc, just jump on the first bus that comes by and be sure the driver plans to stop at the main building. To get back to your room, walk across the street from the main building to the first bus stop and jump on the first bus to go back to your room.

If you're paying cash for the room, mousekeeping will be daily, with fresh towels daily if you request, as in any resort. Tipping is entirely up to you, and could be based on how large your party is, and how messy the rooms might be. As DVC members, we don't get daily mousekeeping, and usually leave a total of ~$15 for an 8 night stay, with one complete room cleaning and one trash and towel day. There's just 2 of us and we pick up after ourselves.

Hope you enjoy your stay!
