Can anyone tell me which building numbers at OKW are for smokers? I'm planning a trip for September and I'm wanting to avoid smoking buildings when I make my request on the reservation. Thanks for the help.

it is generally better at oKW to request a view - pool, water, golf or woods are your chooses. If you request a building and that one is full they will put you any where.

I generally request water view, near bus stop and pool, non-smoking. They gets me what I want, and most of the time a different location.

Smoking preference is one of the top items they consider when assigning rooms, it ranks right under medical requests:

Medical
Smoking preference
All other requests

Tell MS non-smoking when you make the reservation and then just verify when you check-in that you are in a non-smoking building and you should be fine!

Here's the list I have for OKW smoking buildings:

12, 19, 21, 25, 27, 41, 49, 51

I have always requested non-smoking and have always gotten non-smoking. However, sometimes people still smoke in them and I have trouble from people above or below smoking. I like to request areas that have no smoking buildings at all. The Southpoint area of 53-56 are all non-smoking, so that is an area I often request. As you can tell by the list of smoking buildings, there are plenty of non-smoking buildings grouped together to help with this problem.

Thanks Debbie and others. That is the list I had seen floating around here before. Thanks for the input.

Not sure about building 27 being a smoking building.

Here is a picture from our last trip:

As you can see, the door shows a non-smoking sign and the room did not smell of smoke.

Sorry about the size of the photo. Still trying to get the hang of how to post images.

I was told that DVC put your request in the order that you put them - most of the building are non-smoking - and I was told (may not still be true) that because of it - it is generally smokers that have a problem finding rooms. (which is probably why some smoke in non-smoking) - but I have not have a problem with that as of yet.

In response to building 27, MS is still giving it out as a smoking building.

Just to let you know, even though someone may not be in a smoking unit, they are allowed by MS and the front desk to smoke out on the balcony.

This is a forever argument here, and I agree that smoking should be not be allowed in OR outside of the unit. However, I do have a dh that smokes, and when we were there in January, we had guests that smoked. (I requested non-smoking because my ds has asthma and I'm not too thrilled about him being around smoke in the first place). They all understood that they had to smoke outside on the balcony. If they couldn't have smoked there, I can't imagine where I could have told them to smoke. (Yeah, yeah, I know, there is ONE place I'd have liked to tell them, LOL!)

BTW, I had never heard that they had a list of smoking and non-smoking buildings available for our perusal. Anyone know where you can get that list?
