I am taking a "girl's" trip in Late January with my mom and sister and we were supposed to stay at the Beach Club villas. Since the AP rates came out today I couldn't get the BCV and decided on OKW since I got an unbelievable rate for a 1br.

The deal is, I have never even thought about staying there and want to know what its like from those of you who have stayed there.

How is the transportation? Is there a certain building I should ask for that is closer to the bus or boat?

Are the rooms as nice as the pics make it look? Because it looks beautiful.

Just please put me at ease and let me know all the good things about OKW Please!

Thanks a bunch!

We just returned from a stay at the OKW villas 10/18-10/21. The complex is great and the pool is alot of fun for the kids. We were in building 19 which is right across from the bus stop. We had no problems with the transportation and never had to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes for a bus. We never used our car the entire stay. Hope you have a great trip. Let me know if you have any more questions.

RELAX The rooms are hugh. The complex is set up like condo units. We are DVC emebers and go every year. Beautiful views, many look out on the Golf course. Ask for a room near the bus stops ( more than 1) the complex is hugh. You won't be disapointed.

It can be a long walk from many of the units to the main house, so if you don't have a car ask for a buliding near the main house. Transportation to all the parks is by bus only.

We are DVC members and always stay at OKW. The rooms are larger than at other DVC resorts, so you'll have plenty of rooms. Since you are going to be in a 1 bedroom, you'll have a TV with a VCR which is handy if your kids like to watch videos before bedtime.

There are many children's activities during the day at Community Hall. They should give you a schedule when you check in. Although the pool does not have a slide, it is fairly large and there is a place to build sandcastles.

Try to ask for a room in Peninsular because it is close to the Hospitality House and the main pool.

Buses run approximately every 20 minutes during the day, with more buses running at the parks openings.

If you want more info, check out the DVC Board on The DIS.

The 1 BR at OKW are wonderful. They are spacious, decorated very nicely, have full size w&d, a great sized balcony and a very nice kitchen set up (if you are inclined to use the stove decoration, LOL). If you are not going to have a car, I would strongly suggest requesting a building close to the Hospitality House where the front desk, store, restaurant, boat dock, etc is. OKW is a huge resort and some buildings in the back of the resort can be quite far without a car, so that you would have to rely on an internal bus or take quite a hike to the main hub area. Transportation to everywhere but DTD is by bus and the buses run on a regular basis approx every 20 min, the good thing about OKW buses is you hardly ever have to stand even at park closing times! When I have stayed at OKW without a car and relied on buses, I had a villa close to HH and then took the bus from HH and got off at Pennisula road stop because these were usually the last and first stop both ways to the parks so I did not have to ride the bus all through the complex, which is quite a ride. The boat to DTD is very nice but stops running about 10:00 PM so if you are going to be at PI/DTD late you will need to take a bus back which is very simple and a very short ride. Have a great trip! Oh and just to be nosy, how good of a rate did you get for a 1 BR, was it an AP rate?

I have not seen an AP rates mentioned for Home away from Homes, what rate did you get and did they only have 1bedrm?

Thank you all for your wonderful posts! And thanks for the pictures! I am so excited to go now.

I am leaving in 16 days to go the DW with my husband and he keeps saying I am more excited about going in January with the girls!

By the way, my AP rate for the one bedroom at OKW was $239 with tax and all! I thought that was great!?

Thanks again for the help!
