Old Key West review please? Should we stay there?

I stayed at OKW on my very first visit. I think the atmosphere is extremely relaxing and definitely love that boat ride to Disney Springs. Unfortunately, like a lot of people said, the resort is big...if you aren't the first ones on the bus...it'll definitely fill up fast.

Another issue that I had was the room that I was staying had virtually no internet connection!

I think you’ll enjoy it if you can stay close to the Hospitality House or have a car. We didn’t have either and felt rather isolated and out of sorts trying to get back to our room. The buses had long waits in general. But easy to get a Lyft and totally worth it. Like another poster said, it feels a lot like a condo.

Very friendly staff and we enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs and taking in the water view. Olivia’s was ok for us, not stellar but not terrible, but it was also not long after reopening so they get a pass.

I would stay there again someday if we were taking a trip that wasn’t quite so park focused.
Will the lyft come directly to your building or only to hospitality? Don't mind using lyft to get to parks

As others have said it is beautiful with a great laid back vibe, nice rooms, one negative - the QS is a tiny hole in the wall.

I just thought of an amusing addition to my original comment (thought of it as I put on my gurgling suitcase tshirt this AM):

We recently had one night in a HH studio. I think I might have felt different if we'd not had a room so close to lobby and sandcastle pool. That aside, our studio was very spacious and in great condition. I found the grounds to be well maintained and lovely. The CMs were helpful and kind. We loved the pool activities. It did seem like parking was hard to come by in the lobby area and near the HH rooms probably due to people with cars driving over from their rooms. I would stay at OKW again but would hope to snag a HH area room.

We have a big family trip in June. Fourteen of us staying at OKW. It will be our first visit to OKW and I appreciate the information on the resort!

Correction, the bar is a tinier hole in the wall...

Someone posted earlier that you can walk to Disney springs but that is only from SSR. You need to take the boat from OKW to DS

You can walk from OKW to Disney Springs, but it's a really good hike. I wouldn't recommend returning after dusk though. It's not illuminated and close to water so there's always the chance of meeting Captain Hook's nemesis. The walkway is a jogging/golf cart path that runs parallel to the boat canal serving OKW, as well as along several fairways. It's not a direct path and takes a big loop that basically takes you first to SSR.

I have that shirt X 2. And I too love that tiny hole in the wall. Even when we stayed at the Riveria time before last I had to make it over there once. Rode the boat from Springs there for a couple and then back to catch the bus. Favorite vacation was the one after my twin boys turned 21. We closed down the suitcase every night, had a to go and walked back to turtle pond. Loved spending the wee hours with the boys. One made it every night but one, the other just once and of course they locked the doors right after my patooty was out of it every night. And we all still made rope drop!

My first Disney stay was at OKW. I loved it there as the atmosphere was relaxing and of course being able to eat at Olivia's on a daily basis also helped!

There were a few cons though but it didn't really bother me as much during the time I was there:

a) There's a lot of bus stops so hopefully you live near one of the first stops otherwise you might have difficulty boarding.
b) The drink refill station was near the Hospitality house so it was a bit of walk to get a refill!
c) The wifi signal where I was staying was extremely weak. I practically had no internet for the week so it was hard to do some of the planning from our room.
