We're thinking it might be nice to stay in a studio for 2 nts(Oct.8,9th). How many points would that be? I've tried to figure out what a good rate would be? I have received an offer of $104/night is that too good to be true or someone just wanting to rent some of their points? I've checked the website and the rates are $279/nt. Should I go ahead and book it? Also, if I'm renting it under someone else's name, can we still use magical express? Thanks!

at the top right of the screen should be a link to "DVC Point Charts" - for weeknights, you'd be paying the equivalent of $13 a point...compare that to prices on the rent/trade board if you like.

keep in mind that while you are paying much less than $279 (plus tax) for the room, you will not get daily mousekeeping and cancellation may be much more difficult (assuming it is even an option.) you also would not be able to contact member services directly to confirm anything.

i don't understand about "renting under someone else's name." the name(s) on the reservation would need to match the name(s) of those staying in the room. and renters are able to use ME...but the DVC member would need to add that to the reservation.

i would advise you to please read more threads on renting and make sure you understand what you are getting into before you commit...

I rented points from a stranger in Oct 2003 before buying and had no problems. I paid $10 per point back then. I was nervous about it clear up to check in, but it worked out fine. That stay is what convinced me to buy for myself. The next time I thought about renting again I decided to put that money as my down payment and buy my own points!

The reservation is made in your name and the owner will send you the confirmation which will show that. Anything that you want changed or added to your reservation must be done through the owner.
