Old Key West or Fort Wilderness

If you had to choose, what which one would it be and why?

DW's favorite resort is the Fort. We have stayed there twice (with extra guests in our party) and we all loved it. We have done Hoop-de-doo, trails end, the campfire, and the fireworks on the beach. It is a relaxing place for us.

DD has been clamoring to go back to Old Key West for some time. We haven't gone for YEARS, since we stayed with friends in the vacation club. I have only stayed there once and we didn't spend much time at the resort other than lunch at Olivia's and an afternoon at the pool. I'd love to make some new memories there.

A little info about our upcoming trip:

-Our AP's just expired, so we will not be visiting the 4 parks
-We do have Water Park After 2 AP's that are still valid through the end of the summer
-I also have TIW valid through the end of the summer, and the family at large is really just interested in eating at some good restaurants
-I'd like to spend some time enjoying the resort. I feel like I have stayed at both of these places but I haven't really "taken it all in"
-Travel party: 2 adults and 2 big kids (DS 17 and DD 12)
-It will be a 4 day trip

Prices are comparable (there is a $16 a night difference)

With all of that in mind, what would you do?

TIA!

I think that's a hard one. I think I would fall on the side of OKW. The boat to Disney Springs gives you an added option for stuff.

My family always enjoys OKW. You get a very relaxed feeling there. It may not have the most things to do but it certainly is a nice option. They stay there most of the time

OKW is a very relaxing resort. The vibe is laid-back. There is only one restaurant (which is excellent), but Disney Springs is a relaxing (there's that word again!:flower1:) boat trip away. We have loved it from the beginning and as we get older, the serene aspects are a wonderful balm to the crowds and the go-go-go hours of park touring. I look forward to every visit there. Last August we were bumped to another resort (BLT which we also enjoy) and although we had an awesome trip, I did miss lolling on the porch with a cold beverage and nothing in front of me but a green golf course or a lovely lake. Virtually no sounds but chirping birds and quacking ducks. Restorative to the nth degree. :cloud9:

If you're not going to a park, then I think OKW gives you more options as adults. But with two kids, you may find more activites at the Fort. We love both equally so I'm torn every trip as to where to go.

Pros of OKW are size of room, in-room laundry, Disney Springs boat ride, and relaxing pool. Great CMs and the Community Hall for kid activities all day, plus the Gurgling Suitcase pool bar.

At the Fort, you'll have the nightly fireworks and water parade, the movie and Sing-along/campfire, plus horse, archery, etc. The pool area is more hectic and there's less of those "activities" vs. what you get at OKW. There's also the take-out food options at the pool and Trails to Go, more options than OKW.

There - that's my opinion which is "I have no idea"
