Old Key West Next January

We finally received our confirmation from Interval Intl. (exchange company) for a week (Jan 8-15, 2005) at Old Key West Resort. It will be a one-bedroom apartment, full kitchen, king size bed in main bedroom and sofa bed in living room.

My wife and I are very excited (we haven't told our children...it will be a surprise!!! ) Our only experience at a Disney resort was 2 nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge about 2 years ago.

Need ALL the information I can get about this resort: how is transportation, are the rooms comfortable, is the sofa bed big enough for our 2 children (14 & 11) and if not, is there a way to get an additional bed (a sleeping bag might not be an acceptable option for more than a couple of nights ), how is the restaurant (Olivia's), etc. Since this is an exchange, I don't think we will have much of a say about room location, but given the opportunity, what would be a good choice?

I might come up with more specific questions later on. Would appreciate any help with these questions.

We just came back from OKW and LOVED it. It's quiet, quaint, relaxing, and has a very neat "community feel" to it. The bus service was EXCELLENT. We had a studio and it was very nice. We had a water view from or deck and it was so peaceful. You'll have a great time!!! The beds are REALLY comfortable too!!!

In an OKW one bedroom, you will have a king sized bed in the bedroom and a queen sized sleeper in the living room. I have slept on the sleeper sofa with my son. It was comfortable.

You can always bring along a sleeping bag if the kids don't want to sleep together. No rollaways will be provided.

There is also a love seat in the living room where a shorter kid could curl up on and sleep, or take the cushions of the sleeper and love seat and make a bed on the floor with that.

Olivia's is very nice - a great place for breakfast when you sit out on the patio. Lunches and dinners are also good.

The new pool slide should be in place when you get there, so you might ask to be close to the Hospitality House.

Thanks Eeyore, we are very much excited about staying on-property for a full week...I'm afraid we might come out of it completely spoiled...but, we'll take the chance

Thanks Deb & Bill. My children don't mind sharing the bed. They do ocassionally...like after watching a scary movie, but I'm not sure they would do it for a week.....how many scary movies can you watch in a week...

I liked your idea of using the cushions to make a bed...that'll probably work for the boy.

Do they still have a characters' breakfast at Olivia's. Another question: can you buy lenght of stay passes while staying at OKW and are they worth it!

We were in 6225 and my brother and family were in 6233. They were very nice and convenient to the main pool, hospitality house and bus stop. I don't know about the other buildings but this one had an elevator which was nice since I have bad knees. Someone previously mentioned that there were no elevators, so I was pleasantly surprised by that.

No character breakfasts at Olivia's any more.

And you can buy the Ultimate Park Hopper when you check in at OKW. That's what they call the lenght of stay pass now.

You also can ride the boat over to Downtown Disney from OKW. Or even walk over there.
