Old Key West-New Pool Slide

I read that the OKW has closed it's pool to install a new themed slide. Does anybody know if this is true, and if so, if it will be completed by December 18th??

Thanks! The pictures look great. It's great to have a forum where everyone's willing to share their Disney knowledge. My kids loved seeing the pictures. I've got my fingers crossed that they'll have it completed before Christmas!

I don't know but I am crossing my fingers also. We will be at OKW Dec 15-19. I have heard completion dates of middle to end of December. Keep an eye out on the DVC boards. People are posting progress on the slide as they return from OKW. Welcome to the boards! We could use more people from Kentucky.

Welcome to the Dis!!! It is great to find this place, I have learned so much here and met some nice (online) people through here.

OKW is my DH's favorite resort. We alternate where we stay I choose one time then it's his turn but I really don't even have to ask. I can't wait for that slide to be done.

Hi MAC3 -- nice to see a fellow Diser from Billerica.

I am heading to the world next week and am staying at OKW for the first time! Any advice or recommendationsas to what building to stay at (we have a studio). I have been to disney many times, but have not been to OKW -- I like to pick different resorts everytime to experience it all!!!

I know I am going to love it, but any extra info. would be great!!

Well hello Pamela!

Nice to meet another from Billerica (there are a few of us), are you also a DVC'er? You wouldn't happen to be the person I've seen around so much lately in the red Pontiac Van would you? I live on the Turnpike.

Anyway, usually I would say to ask for BLDG's 62-64 but since the pool is being refurbed I would ask for another section. I've heard many say the Turtle Pond area is nice but can't confirm as I have never stayed there.

Like I said OKW is my DH & DD's fave resort (my second). The rooms are huge and you really feel like your on vacation. It has a very laid back feel to it.

wow - that pool looks great....that was the one bad thing about OKW...the pool...i guess we'll have to go back there when it's done....we adore everything else about it...

The Turtle Pond area has a pool with a snack bar, so it is a nice area.

I would probably not ask for a specific building since there are not that many units in each building. If there is nothing available in that building for the time persiod when you check in, the room assigner has no idea why you asked for that buidling - was it because you wanted a particular view, to be close to the bus stop or a pool, etc. It's better generally to figure out what you want and ask for that rather than the building.

Hi Lisa....sorry it took so long to get back to you!!! Thanks for the info.....no I don't drive around in a red pontiac van....I have a sandstone sienna.....I live in the north of town.

We cannot wait to arrive in the world.....just check out my timer!!!! I am running around like a chicken with its head cut off, trying to make sure everything is packed and in order!!!

I am not a dvc'er, I am renting points this time around and may contemplate buying at some point!
