old hopper passes/fingerprints

My family is planning a Disney trip next spring. We have not been to Disney since spring 2004. We have many days worth of unused hopper passes. I know they have changed ticketing sytem and I have read about new fingerprint machines to get in parks now. I know we can still use the old hopper passes as they do not expire, but I am wondering how this all works with new ticketing system and fingerprints. We are also DVC members staying at home base of Old Key West. I don't know if that makes any difference or not. Any answers on how this works would be greatly appreciated so we know what to expect.

I know people have asked this question before and I believe that some say they will work just like they used to and then others have stated that Disney will upgrade them to the newer tickets....Sorry, I am not helping, but maybe someone else can.

Effective May 2005 finger scans were added to all tickets not already using finger scans. There are no special steps to be taken other than using the same ticket and the turnstile biometric reader normally as if the ticket was a brand new Magic Your Way ticket or an annual pass.

On some finger readers you insert your second and third fingers pointing in a narrow "V". On other scanners you insert just one finger.

Currently the biometric readers do not record fingerprint detail but they might some day and you will never know unless someone told you.

The only park that has the one finger scanners is MK. They are testing them and not all turnstiles have the one finger version.

Thanks for the information. I double checked and we have 7 different hopper passes for a total of 17 days worth of admission originally purchased between 1998 to 2004. I sincerely hope it won't be a hassle to use up all those unused days. Being DVC members we have purchased a couple 5 day hoppers every time we went to disney, but have done cruises lately and thus have all of these days left. Looking forward to OKW and disney again!!
