Ladies... help me out...

If YOU were hesitant about going back to WDW because you've been before and now want to create "new" memories elsewhere... what is the ONE thing you would need to hear or see in order to change your mind and get you to go BACK to Disney?

(I hope that made sense. If it didn't I'll try to word it differently) ;)

Not sure if I'm on the right path, but I went to Disney a few times with my ex husband, even for our honeymoon! Bad divorce (caught him cheating)...

Honestly, I've created a whole new set of memories at Disney with our daughter. Although I'd been there many times with my ex, I don't think of him when I'm there. I relish in the new memories I've created with my daughter. Wanting to share Disney with my daughter was enough for me to go again and put the memories of him and my stepson behind me.

Perhaps part of it helps that with him we never stayed on site, always had a rental car, etc. With my daughter, we ALWAYS stay on site and use Magical Express. Or that the times with her have been so special, I don't associate it with my previous visits with him. :confused3

I went a lot with my ex-husband, including engagement trip and honeymoon - we also had a nasty divorce - and I was kind of weird about taking the new DBF at first. It turned out that a trip with him was totally different than it had been with my ex! I felt like a kid for the first time... it was very nice.

I'm a DVC owner, so I'll always go back to Disney instead of renting out my points. I'm glad I gave it another shot.

We're staying deluxe, club-level.

We're going during Food & Wine.

I've scheduled Victoria & Albert's for one night, & here's my credit card so you can go buy an outfit.

I've also scheduled a "Keys to the Kingdom" Tour.

I've scheduled a personal meet & greet for you w/ Captain Jack Sparrow.

Those are just a few of the things that would get me back if were I hesitant... :rotfl:

I suppose my DH is lucky in that I can't wait to go back!!

With the "real" Captain Jack (J.D.) In a heartbeat:rotfl2:princess:

I don't agree wiht Wendy's list per say....but the idea of a splurge you've never done (find the right one for her tastes) is probably the best answer.

Or similarly, find some way to vary the vacation- maybe throw in Universal Studios and Harry Potter? I have to say, that ride is amazing!

There's also LOTS of OTHER options in the Orlando area that don't involve a theme park.

What are her interests? Orlando is close to all kinds of natural park optons, beaches, amazing historical sights (St. Augustine for one), great food. I mean if you think about some of the other cities in Florida- many of which which are not all that far- they all have VERY different personalities. IT woudl be quite easy to do a combo vacation of some kind. I mean Ft. Lauderdale is very different from Miami is very different from Key West (granted that one is a ways) is very different from Tampa is very different from Daytona.

One lady might LOVE yachts in the Ft. Lauderdale area, another might relish the Everglades, another the nightlife of Miami.

Then again....many women (and men) might be of the opposite mind- instead of a splurge- their BIGGEST concern MIGHT just be the overall budget. the might be FAR more impressed if you could show them a Disney option that falls under a certain price range. Or that you can do BOTH the vacation destination they want AND WDW.

Of course it might do you MUCH long term good if you DO go somewhere different.

Often when we see other places - we have fun - but it increases our appreciation of the value of WDW.

then again....there are other excellent vacation desintations beside WDW....(see the above list of great FL cities to visit for a start)

There are so many variations to make to a trip. We just came back from the best trip we've had yet, we stayed at OKW, rested each afternoon, and generally took our time. It was just the two of us, so we weren't accountable to anyone else and it made a huge difference! It felt drastically different from our previous two trips w/ extended family.

Try staying at a new place Animal Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, Poly...any of them that really aim to transport you somewhere else.

Go to a different restaurant...try California Grill, Boma, Sanaa, Flying Fish all of which can be family friendly, but can also be more adult.

Do a backstage tour, Keys to the Kingdom is excellent!

Go during F&W and spend a lot of time just wandering through the World Showcase.

Explore the resorts. Last time we were there we spent the afternoon at Tambu Lounge on one occasion just chatting to the nice bartender.

All of the little things can help make new memories, WDW can be a million different things in one, just try and find a new combination that will make her look at it with fresh eyes!

I honeymooned at WDW with first DH and after the divorce I honeymooned with 2nd DH. Now we are taking our first family trip so that will make it even more special for me and DH2. Seeing WDW through someone else's eyes will make it different enough.

My last trip to WDW was with a friend who had left her husband and daughter (also disney lovers) behind. I think she didn't realize how much it would bother her. We were there for two weeks (with a two day side trip to Universal) and she told me she was ready to go home after 5 days! I would ask her what she wanted to do and she would say "It's not my trip, I am just a tag-along". She would also be very quiet and sulky at times. It's hard to have fun with someone who isn't.

To fix it, I am going by myself!

I love Disney and can't wait to be in WDW again this Sept. Try not to let the past cloud your love for the Mouse. Go with people you love and who support you or be like me and go solo!

~I really need more details, your post is too vague! It depends on where I wanted to create "new" memories. For me, resort choice plays an essential role in the formation of new memories, LOL! Choosing a different resort can provide that "new" and "exciting" feeling. This year we're trying a new resort in a new area and I'm very excited, we did the same thing last year, again it was very fun! But, just guessing, I would say make it an experience, try a different time of year, try Food & Wine or something. Maybe you need to change your touring style, book a spa treament, his & her massage, take her shopping and buy her a nice dress and shoes for a romantic dinner, etc. Good luck!:goodvibes

LOL! I do love your enthusiasm! :lmao:

OP.....if you have kids......... remind her that time is fleeting and this time will pass FAR too quickly.

If no kids, then try another time of the year. Promise her that there is nothing better tha Disney at the holidays. Do a hard ticketed party.

Honey, they have these beautiful Dooney & Burke Disney-themed purses...

This. And the Flynn Ryder part doesn't hurt either. ;)

:) What would be the one thing you would want to do that you didn't feel comfortable doing with the first companion? Do that...

as an example....I would dress up as Ursula for Halloween and go to MNSSHP. I have very short blonde hair, am very pooh sized with a round face and have long red fingernails--add a black dress, wax my hair straight up and tenticles and I am her, "Daaahling".

We don't dress up for MNSSHP :sad2:

(DH would be the perfect Captain from WALL-E) :rotfl: Seriously!!

I am always in favor of making NEW memories....

When you are with that special someone, then you won't even think about your past.
