Old Disney Park photos

This was a MK parade and to me, one of the strangest! The inflated characters were about 3 stories high and some of the accompanying floats were a bit circus-like!

These parade floats were borrowed from Disneyland's 35th anniversay. It had a Mardi Gras theme. If I remember correctly, they would throw plastic bead neckalaces to the crowd during the parade route. I think they called it "Party Gras!" or somthing like that. My family visited Disneyland in 1991, and WDW in 1992, so I got to see it at both parks!:smickey:

Really??? 1992??? I was there in March of 1992 on my honeymoon. I'll ask my husband if he remembers...better yet, I'll just bust out my honeymoon video - I haven't seen that in years :)

This parade is LEGEND in my family. My mom and aunt burned their butts while sitting on the sidewalk waiting for the parade. Hysterical. . . their butts were bright red for weeks! Looked like a sunburn! Still harrass them to this day.

...now THAT there is REALLY funny....

Carlamouse - Ah! Now the floats make a lot more sense, especially for a Mardi Gras theme! Shame, shame Disney trying to fool us as if these were really for a Surprise Celebration! The only thing these characters threw was your neck out trying to see up to the top of them! Thanks for the info!

I still have the doubloons they handed out along the parade route at WDW!

Those same floats were toys at burger king, i believe! I have some still in the package, and they'd come with a MK map piece you'd put together when you had them all!

Hi. My name is Steph. My uncle (nbstatic) posted some pictures on here from the 80s. Everyone thought the woman in the picture was an 80s mom...but that was really the little boy's sister. She's my mom. Someone wanted before and after pictures of her, so here you go.

My mom in the 80s.
(Oh my gosh, what was she thinking wearing those clothes and those SHOES??? Who wears heels to Disney World???)

Here's a bit more info on this parade:

Acutally, I guess my family would have had to have visited Disneyland in 1990 to have seen this parade. I was looking at our Disneyland photos recently, and I couldn't remeber the year we went, but I knew that we saw the parade floats at both parks.:scratchin

Thanks for the source. I had lost my bookmark for Jeff's info and it was great to browse his site. Getting correct info for my scrapbooks is leading me down some interesting paths. Thanks again!

I'm starting to think I may have dreamed this - but does anyone else remember Michael Jackson performing at the castle in MK in the late
70's/early 80's? I remember seeing him perform "Rock With You" from Off The Wall somewhere in WDW - I was little & I remember that I wanted to go, and my mom said this would be a very famous star one day. Off the Wall came out in '79 but we were there in '77 & in the 80's (can't even remember the exact years) - so I'm assuming it had to be early 80's. I cannot for the life of me find any old photos of his performance, and my mom says she doesn't remember this. He also did a short movie or show with Figment at Epcot - anyone remember this or am I off the wall on this one too....

Ok, got the old ones from 1978.
Here are some shots in the Polynesian rooms, my brother in one and sisters in another.

We didn't go in it, it was Feb and unseasonably cold even for Florida. We wore our winter coats around the MK.

Sign says Happy birthday Mickey Mouse. I don't know enough Mickey trivia to know which birthday this was.

The Michael Jackson movie was a 3D movie called Captain EO. Not sure about him performing at the MK, however I could see him performing right before Captain EO started. It was at Disneyland also.

I remember that 3D movie when I was younger! popcorn::
