Anyone know what we can do with a couple of old carseats? They aren't OLD, but they are five years old as my oldest is now 6yrs old. I know I can't sell them as that makes me responsible for it's future use. It seems a shame to throw them in the landfill though. They are in perfectly good shape. It is almost sad :sad1:

Any ideas??? DH is bent and determined they are headed to the dump tomorrow!!

I think they "expire" after 5 or 6 years anyway so they're really of no use to anyone at this point. I would just let them go to the dump and be done with it.

Car seats are recyclable, so if you have a neighbourhood recycle centre take them there - we just did that with our old one too.:thumbsup2

Just take the covers off them and the straps out so someone doesn't pick them up and try and use them.

Hi

You could give your local St-John's Ambulance a call as they do the Canadian Child Seat technician course. They may need car seats to train new techs. They would never use an old seat to transport a child, but they might find a home for them!

Check with the firehall in your area. I know when I got rid of mine, there was actually a drive to collect and destroy old car seats. The firehalls were a collection point. I'm not sure if other areas do this.
