I also own 2 weeks. A three-bedroom for week 50 at the North Village and a two-bedroom at the East Village. I have no problem with the front staff but I do think that the clubhouse is in need of some minor maintanence (painting, redoing public restrooms). I will there again in August. Quick question, how difficult is it to get in when you are not staying there.reddixie said:![]()
I own at OLCC. I have since 2000. I have noticed several on these boards do too. I was just curious how many of us there are? So post and let us know. Also when you bought and do you use your unit? I use mine every Christmas which is the week I bought. I bought week 52 this past year and now have week 51 and 52. I love the resort. My only complaint is the front desk staff. I don't find them to be friendly. Not even up to most motel standards. I love just about everything else. I am going in the morning to OLCC after dropping someone off at the airport. I plan on spending the day by the pool and eating at the Legacy Grille. I am so glad I live close enough to enjoy the resort year round. I live in Fl. and have found the pools unusable during my weeks. So I feel I get my money's worth during the summer. So next. Who wants to tell us about their week?

reddixie said:Well I spent a lovelyday yesterday at OLCC. As for the poster that wanted to know how hard it is to visit if not staying it is easy. You should bring your OLCC owner's card or your wilson travel card as proof that you are an owner. They will let you through the front gate. It is not easy if you have no proof though. As for the resort River Island looks like it's going up pretty well.
I saw the construction between Publix and the first set of condo's. they are landscaping the construction over towards the East village. Nothing going on in the rest of the resort. They changed a few of the activities. They have added a bird walk and nature walk. They had live music most of the day by the Olympic Pool. They have added a Karaoke night. That looks like fun. Also now you can order groceries from the General Store and they will bring them to your unit for a small fee. I don't usually have the problem of to much stuff and need to fly. I live within an hour and half so I just take my extras home. HTH.

That's interesting. It doesn't bother me that much as I have seldom used the pools. I see some issues with it (such as an owner trades out for another resort but current owners can't exchange into the area but exchangers can since they don't have pre-assigned areas). Last December when I went on the tour, they stated that they weren't letting current owners trade or upgrade their units into these units. That would have been the only reason I would have upgraded. My week 50 is a three bedroom but I was unable to get a three bedroom for week 51. It would have been nice to have a three bedroom for both weeks so I didn't have to move in the middle.Barbara Fisher said:Something we were told at the last tour we took as owners....when the new area of units around the Lazy River opens....only the people who bought into those units will stay in those units. Everyone can use the river/pool, but once that area opens...they are going to restrict us to the units in the area that we own. When you use your week - you will either be in the unit you bought or if you have traded for a different week...you will be in the Village that you bought into. That doesn't bother us too much...we love our area, but it might be a disappointment to some who trade their time and want to stay by the new waterplace. Just thought I'd pass along what the OLCC person told us, as a heads up. Barb
I don't think that I would trade my 2-bedroom in the East Village to a 2-bedroom near the new waterpark. I traded once and was put in the West Village near the clubhouse. It was very convenient for doing some of the activities at the clubhouse and I like the Olympic-size pool and I think that I would enjoy the new waterpark, but not enough to spend additional funds. During my December trip, they also pointed out that the rates were increasing and at a premium at the new waterpark. Unless there is a very specific week and area that I wanted, I would purchase resale as well. It sounds like some of the policies are in flux. As far as salespeople, it seems to be a revolving door among the timeshare properties as many of them have worked at other timeshare locations. I'll probably go to the speil when I'm there in August.Barbara Fisher said:That's interesting, but puzzling too. While were there the first two weeks in May....some friends of ours did exactly that. They had a two bedroom in a different area and traded that in for a two bedroom in the new waterpark units for the same week they had. Of course it came with an additional price tag....we thought they were foolish to do it, because they're retired like we are...and we can't see the benefit in being over there.
When we first bought into OL we had one week, through the years we've added to our time. To be able to get two weeks in the same unit the first time - we had to wait until the next week in that particular unit went up for sale......at that time - the turn over of salesmen wasn't like it is today, and we had a salesman that stayed on top of it - and alerted us when it came available. The other two week span (the three bedroom in the West Village) we bought before it was constructed, and we traded a week we had against it. I'm just thankful we did all this back then...we sure couldn't do it now. We've promised ourselves that when and if we do purchase another week...we'll do it from one of those resale sites. It may mean moving from one place to another if we go our regular time...but if we trade for another time of year...it would all fall together. Barb in Texas
As Barbara stated, take the tour. Given the age of your kids, you might request being in the North Village near Splash Lagoon. I have seen children on the tour, I don't think it will be a problem. You can call ahead and advise the resort of your request. I don't know if they can help or not but you never know without calling and making the requests.noritake1 said:Hi, I will be staying at OLCC for the first time next June. we are getting a rate from a postcard because we know owners. We will be doing the tour, anyone know how long this is? Also I will ahve 5 kids with me ages at time 12,11,5,2 1/2 and 1 1/2. 2 of my kids are deaf, si I don't know if it's a great idea to leave them when we go on the tour and the 1 1/2 year old is too young . can we bring them on tour? If we secide to buy, should we by with them or with a timeshare resale place? Can I make any requests for rooms or things needed in rooms since I have 2 deaf children? What area soes everyone like best? Any info would help. Also what is the backroad to WDW thanks in advance JIll![]()

I felt the same way last year when I stayed in my unit. I could still see the fireworks but there were newer buildings blockiing the view. Not quite the same as being at the theme parks watching the fireworks but it is nice to sit on the balcony and watch the fireworks. The newer building blocking the view didn't help. One of the reasons that I bought there was to see the fireworks. My building is 86000, next to the pool, 5th floor.reddixie said:I was told the same thing at Christmas. I own in the East Village and wanted a newer building. When we bought 8600 we were told that nothing would be built behind us. We bought our unit specifically for the view of the fireworks.
