:goodvibes :cool1: I own at OLCC. I have since 2000. I have noticed several on these boards do too. I was just curious how many of us there are? So post and let us know. Also when you bought and do you use your unit? I use mine every Christmas which is the week I bought. I bought week 52 this past year and now have week 51 and 52. I love the resort. My only complaint is the front desk staff. I don't find them to be friendly. Not even up to most motel standards. I love just about everything else. I am going in the morning to OLCC after dropping someone off at the airport. I plan on spending the day by the pool and eating at the Legacy Grille. I am so glad I live close enough to enjoy the resort year round. I live in Fl. and have found the pools unusable during my weeks. So I feel I get my money's worth during the summer. So next. Who wants to tell us about their week? :cheer2:

I also own 2 weeks. A three-bedroom for week 50 at the North Village and a two-bedroom at the East Village. I have no problem with the front staff but I do think that the clubhouse is in need of some minor maintanence (painting, redoing public restrooms). I will there again in August. Quick question, how difficult is it to get in when you are not staying there.

Good morning from another OLCC owner! :)

We own week 14 and my mom owns week 13 (around Easter). We bought this past December in the newest building that was completed (not the one they were finishing). We have a 3 bedroom and wanted the top floor and the newest building that they were completing in December, we were told, the full top floors belong to the Wilsons.

We spend our two week Easter break on Casey or Siesta Key, which is on the West Coast. We plan on sometimes using our weeks for a week during Easter (although not going to Disney) and using the other week (mine or my moms) during the year or tagged onto a post stay somewhere after a cruise, etc. There is an RCI share on Siesta Key which I have already deposited a week for 2007, where I hopefully will stay. :) :)

We also have moved one of next years weeks to Oct. 06 so we can go back to Disney.

Do any of you trade often or do you have your weeks for the sole purpose of spending at OLCC. We did for both. Although I have the 2 weeks around/at Easter, I would never dream of visiting Disney during this time but as stated above, moved a week for an Oct. 06 visit. We also like to cruise and just take vacations when the kids are not in school (and we do take them out of school from time to time) and would like to use our week for an extended stay post cruise or just visit a new place we haven’t seen before. I also belong to tug2.net which, in my opinion, if you like to trade, is an area of great wealth of information about different time-shares, has opinions and many pictures. They also have a trading area, such like the DVC thread on this board where people can trade with one another. It cost a small fee to join, but if you trade, it is so worth it!

Anyway, just wanted to step in and say Hi! I sure hope the lazy river area is completed for my 10/06 visit! Enjoy!

We're owners also...2 weeks in June and 2 weeks the end of October. We love it at OLCC, and rarely trade. We've been owners since they first opened, bought one week then and have added weeks since then back to back. This year we traded our June weeks for the first two weeks in May. We found that it was just too hot for us in June and too crowded. Since we're retired now the change in time didn't matter. It did when our children were in school, now they're all married. We have 2 weeks in a 2 bedroom and 2 weeks in a 3 bed. I always spend my time at Disney, (I treat myself to an AP every year) and the pool, Jim spends his golfing. It's a perfect place for us...
We've not ever encountered a problem with the front desk...but have had lots of trouble with keys not working. We've learned that you need to keep those room cards away from other credit cards.
I really enjoy that short cut on Sherberth to get to Disney...it's great!!! We've talked about adding a 3rd week...and if we do we'll do it through that tugnet site I think.
This is a great thread - thanks for starting it!! Maybe we can "bump" into one another.....or even share things.. ...we always have groceries and things that we can't drag back on the airplane!!!!
Barbara and Jim........Fort Worth, Texas

We hope to add extra weeks as time goes on too. I would love to purchase at least 2 more extra weeks-to give one to my son and one to my daughter when they are older to use for themselves or if they have a family. At least they will have one vacation week “free” lodging every year and they can trade if they so desire. I’ve heard from my mom that has friends that trading through RCI can sometimes be a problem if you have to trade for specific dates (such as I need to do for working around school schedules) but we will see. I have a week deposited for 07 with about 18 properties but specific check in dates.
When I moved an 05 week for an Oct. 06 week at OLCC, it went through the same time I requested it. I’m keeping an 07 week but want to use the other week for a beach property in Florida. It is during Easter break so hoping it won’t be too difficult but I imagine it will be.
When we left the unit in December, we ordered pizza the last night and gave the delivery guy all our leftover things like detergent, cans of soda, etc. What do you guys usually do with them? Just leave them there for the housekeeping people? Thanks. I like this thread and maybe we can all find out some neat stuff from one another :)

That idea about the Pizza is really a good one...I have on a vacation or two met the people in the next unit and given them some of what we had or we going to leave.
If I have anything that is unopened..well - I just leave that for housekeeping - and discard anything else. I really hate doing that (discarding things) - it's just a waste to throw things away. Since we're there for two weeks at a stretch...I do alot of our own meals. I try to collect the condiments that we may use at home and just bring them with us.
We always do the tour....it's nice for us, because we find out what's going on.
If anyone has done the "tour" thing...and has that little coupon book that they give you and doesn't want it....I would be happy to pay for the postage and get it from you. We use it...and are going back in October, with some extended family. It would be nice to have! If you do the tour...be sure and ask for the coupon book, sometimes they forget to give it to you. You get it as you're leaving at the back counter. Barb in Texas

Well I spent a lovely :sunny: day yesterday at OLCC. As for the poster that wanted to know how hard it is to visit if not staying it is easy. You should bring your OLCC owner's card or your wilson travel card as proof that you are an owner. They will let you through the front gate. It is not easy if you have no proof though. As for the resort River Island looks like it's going up pretty well. :goodvibes I saw the construction between Publix and the first set of condo's. they are landscaping the construction over towards the East village. Nothing going on in the rest of the resort. They changed a few of the activities. They have added a bird walk and nature walk. They had live music most of the day by the Olympic Pool. They have added a Karaoke night. That looks like fun. Also now you can order groceries from the General Store and they will bring them to your unit for a small fee. I don't usually have the problem of to much stuff and need to fly. I live within an hour and half so I just take my extras home. HTH. :sunny:

I am so green with envy...but if I can't be there I'm thrilled that you are! How I would love to live in Florida...and close enough to satisfy all my D cravings....and I can never get enough of OLCC!!!!! Can't wait until October 24th...then it's my turn!!! Have a ball! :Pinkbounc Barb

Thanks, I suspected as much about getting in. I don't even know if I can find the Wilson Travel Card as it was so, well, worthless. I never had a need for it. But I do have couples of my maintanence statements. As far as owners card, I'm not sure what that is as the only card I remember is the Wilson card. Oh well.

As far as trading, I have done it on occassions but mostly I trade within OLCC for a different time of the year. My weeks are 50 & 51, I had banked some from the past few years and I am going again in August 26 to September 9. I keep thinking that I should change my December plans from going December 10 to December 24, drop Dec 10 t the 17 and head to OLCC during the last week of Oct. It would be interesting to see Disney at Halloween!

Something we were told at the last tour we took as owners....when the new area of units around the Lazy River opens....only the people who bought into those units will stay in those units. Everyone can use the river/pool, but once that area opens...they are going to restrict us to the units in the area that we own. When you use your week - you will either be in the unit you bought or if you have traded for a different week...you will be in the Village that you bought into. That doesn't bother us too much...we love our area, but it might be a disappointment to some who trade their time and want to stay by the new waterplace. Just thought I'd pass along what the OLCC person told us, as a heads up. Barb

That's interesting. It doesn't bother me that much as I have seldom used the pools. I see some issues with it (such as an owner trades out for another resort but current owners can't exchange into the area but exchangers can since they don't have pre-assigned areas). Last December when I went on the tour, they stated that they weren't letting current owners trade or upgrade their units into these units. That would have been the only reason I would have upgraded. My week 50 is a three bedroom but I was unable to get a three bedroom for week 51. It would have been nice to have a three bedroom for both weeks so I didn't have to move in the middle.

That's interesting, but puzzling too. While were there the first two weeks in May....some friends of ours did exactly that. They had a two bedroom in a different area and traded that in for a two bedroom in the new waterpark units for the same week they had. Of course it came with an additional price tag....we thought they were foolish to do it, because they're retired like we are...and we can't see the benefit in being over there.
When we first bought into OL we had one week, through the years we've added to our time. To be able to get two weeks in the same unit the first time - we had to wait until the next week in that particular unit went up for sale......at that time - the turn over of salesmen wasn't like it is today, and we had a salesman that stayed on top of it - and alerted us when it came available. The other two week span (the three bedroom in the West Village) we bought before it was constructed, and we traded a week we had against it. I'm just thankful we did all this back then.. :rotfl: .we sure couldn't do it now. We've promised ourselves that when and if we do purchase another week...we'll do it from one of those resale sites. It may mean moving from one place to another if we go our regular time...but if we trade for another time of year...it would all fall together. Barb in Texas

I don't think that I would trade my 2-bedroom in the East Village to a 2-bedroom near the new waterpark. I traded once and was put in the West Village near the clubhouse. It was very convenient for doing some of the activities at the clubhouse and I like the Olympic-size pool and I think that I would enjoy the new waterpark, but not enough to spend additional funds. During my December trip, they also pointed out that the rates were increasing and at a premium at the new waterpark. Unless there is a very specific week and area that I wanted, I would purchase resale as well. It sounds like some of the policies are in flux. As far as salespeople, it seems to be a revolving door among the timeshare properties as many of them have worked at other timeshare locations. I'll probably go to the speil when I'm there in August.

Have a good trip....if you go for the "tour" go early in your vacation if you want to take advantage of the coupons in book for the complex. There's a few good deals in it....last one we went on was very very low pressure...we had the breakfast buffet in Kemmon's Place and collected $50. They tried to pressure us into listing 10 people they could "invite" to OL by offering us a beach towel....but we already have two!! :rotfl: Even with the breakfast included we were out of there by quarter to 12 and our appointment was for 10:30 - we didn't think it was bad at all.
If you get on Ibid and bid on "Beef O'Bradys - it's a wonderful deal. I've gotten the $35.00 voucher for less than $15....they've opened one down 192 just before you get to Hwy 27, same side of the road as OL. It's like a sports bar...good food and never crowded.
I'm just counting the days now until October! Barb

Hi, I will be staying at OLCC for the first time next June. we are getting a rate from a postcard because we know owners. We will be doing the tour, anyone know how long this is? Also I will ahve 5 kids with me ages at time 12,11,5,2 1/2 and 1 1/2. 2 of my kids are deaf, si I don't know if it's a great idea to leave them when we go on the tour and the 1 1/2 year old is too young . can we bring them on tour? If we secide to buy, should we by with them or with a timeshare resale place? Can I make any requests for rooms or things needed in rooms since I have 2 deaf children? What area soes everyone like best? Any info would help. Also what is the backroad to WDW thanks in advance JIll pirate: princess: princess: princess: princess: princess: pirate:

The tour runs about 1 1/2 - 2 hours....especially if you've never been before...it's a good way to see what is where and what's available. You can bring your children....it'll be one way to "cut the time short" if you desire to. I think the tour for first time visitors is a little longer and more in-depth. I don't know what they offer people to take the tour if it's the first time.
You can request a crib and high-chair....one of each is complimentary..but I think they charge for a second one. They deliver and pick up.
When you check in at OLCC they'll give you a map of the complex...I think you will be very pleased. All the units are the same...some are newer than others, but they are kept up and in all these years we've never been disappointed. If anything is amiss...just call them...they usually respond quickly and take care of the problem. You will have a full size kitchen and a full size washer and dryer. The 2nd bedroom has two (I believe they're queen size) beds....a tv and video player.

***SHORTCUT****When you leave from either entrance of OLCC on to 192 - make a left and stay in the left hand lane. When you get to the traffic light, (Black Lake Road) make another left....this road parallels 92. When you get to where you have to make a right or a left (at the stop sign) ...(Sherberth Road) make another Left! Just stay on Sherberth until you get to the traffic light....(the road winds around a little) and then make a right - you will be on Disney property at that point. Just follow the signs to where you are going that day. Animal Kingdom will be on your left - Did you know that OLCC backs up to Animal Kingdom Lodge property?
When you are leaving any part of Disney to head back to OLCC - just follow the signs to Animal Kingdom. When you get to Animal Kingdom...stay in your left hand lane and make a Left at the traffic light. This puts you back on Sherberth....and then you can make your right on to Black Lake Road, make a right onto 192...and OLCC will be down there on your right.
It's amazing how much traffic you will miss!!! 192 can become a zoo some days.
If all this isn't clear...let me know.
You will love it there and it's a great place for the children. I'll have some more info if you want it... if you are interested in buying what you do is up to you....but you usually can get a week bought for less money on one of the resale sites from an individual. At least by taking the tour...you'll know all about the complex. Barb in Texas

As Barbara stated, take the tour. Given the age of your kids, you might request being in the North Village near Splash Lagoon. I have seen children on the tour, I don't think it will be a problem. You can call ahead and advise the resort of your request. I don't know if they can help or not but you never know without calling and making the requests.

Unless you are planning for a specific week at specific location, buying resale will be much less expensive. If you check some of the resale sites for 2-bedroom units, you will normally see them at various prices but usually around $5,000 or less (sometimes more). The price quoted by the resort was $21,000 when I was there in December.

While all RCI Weeks resorts in Orlando (like Orange Lake) are rated Red (highest rating), some weeks are more valuable than others. The busiest times of the year in Orlando is around Easter (Daytona 500 race, spring break), Xmas, and summer. If you trade, this supposedly helps your trading power. As an example, I have 2 weeks, 50 & 51. Week 50 is usually the week before Xmas and is one of the slowest times (great for gong to Disney though as all the Xmas decorations are up and the parks are slow). Week 51 is usually Xmas week and is the one of the buiest weeks and has a lot of demand. One way to get an indication of how busy a week might be is to check out www.rci.com, look at the resort directory, pick a RCI Points resorts such as Sheraton Vistana Resort, and look at the points needed for a week. You will notice that the highest number of points needed will be for weeks 51 and 52 but the lowest is for weeks 48, 49, & 50. Different areas have different demands but this is consistent in the Orlando area.

This may be a bit more information than what you were requesting but it is important to educate yourself. The time educating yourself will be well worth it. You might wish to look at www.tug.com to educate yourself on timesharing. I like OLCC and I think you will as well.

I was told the same thing at Christmas. I own in the East Village and wanted a newer building. When we bought 8600 we were told that nothing would be built behind us. We bought our unit specifically for the view of the fireworks. Well this year when we wanted our 2nd week we wanted a unit in 7900. The building is only a year newer than ours. They wanted to charge us 5000.00 for an upgrade fee. They said after this year 2004 that even owners couldn't trade up into East Village especially units near the River Island. So interesting to us. Well we insisted that one year newer did't mean an upgrade. We already own week 51 and they were willing to sell us week 52 in 7900. We fought hard and got a manager and we got 51 and 52 in the same unit in 7900. I am very glad to know that the saleperson didn't just say all of that to con us into buying 52 only. Thanks Barabara.

As an owner at OL...it is true that the new buildings being constructed around River Island will be used by those owner's only. However....if you own in any other area of the resort, as an owner you will be given priority status as far as requesting another village. So if you own in the West Village, and want to stay in the North Village or the existing East Village....just request it.

 Oh and I forgot to introduce myself. We have owned at OLCC for 15 years. Visit it several times each year.

I felt the same way last year when I stayed in my unit. I could still see the fireworks but there were newer buildings blockiing the view. Not quite the same as being at the theme parks watching the fireworks but it is nice to sit on the balcony and watch the fireworks. The newer building blocking the view didn't help. One of the reasons that I bought there was to see the fireworks. My building is 86000, next to the pool, 5th floor.
