OKW, why so many less points?

I'll admit to another cardinal sin that would add availability at OKW....I've let points expire without being used (hanging head in shame). My guess is that I'm not the only that has done this at OKW. Point packages were larger than 150 at the beginning and people may have found themselves with even small amounts that don't get used (especially if they don't know about renting via these and other boards).

*GASP*! You let points expire.

Don't feel bad, we had the same thing happen. To this day I lament not being able to use 2 points in '98. We were hanging onto a bunch of points that we knew we'd need over the Millennium. We didn't want to borrow any.

I also lean towards the line of thought that they were uncertain as to how DVC (OKW) would be received, so they started low.

I'm sure if they had it to do over again, the OKW point chart would be higher. I'm very happy that the system doesn't allow this to happen.

:D :D

I'm inclined to believe that DVC counts on a certain percent of points expiring over time and have factored this into their plans. IU also suspect they've alloted a certain amount of extra point usage due to the fact that split units (1 BR plus studio) are a few more points than a 2 BR. How else would they be able to get by with simply a 2-4% margin on a resort that can be reserved day by day.
