There is so much great info on this site about OKW - I just wondered if anyone had done some research on which buildings had the dedicated 2 bedrooms. I've made a room request but I'd like to remove it if there isn't a dedicated 2 bedroom in that building.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out!!

:confused3

You might want to just request a specific area such as South Point or Turtle Pond - We have had dedicated 2 bedrooms in all of the sections so you should be okay as long as you did not request a specific building.

The dedicated 2 BR are spread throughout the resort. As was posted in another resort, rather than just specify a building you would be better off requesting a particular area of the resort. That's because if the specific building isn't available, then the room assigner doesn't know what else is important to you in selecting a building.

There are dedicated 2 bedrooms in EVERY building at OKW. The dedicateds are toward the center of the buildings, and the lock offs are on the ends of the buildings.

Thanks everyone for the words of advice - I took it and called back today to cancel my very specific building request.

We've never requested a location before and have had some GREAT ones so I'm going to tempt fate once again and see what we score.

I guess the difference is, I know more about the locations now - my follow up question would be - when you check in, they type away and then say, "here is your building . . ." - I don't want to be a pill but at what point should I jump in here and politely ask if they have other availability? Just seems like it's already a done deal by the time you find out where you've initially been assigned and I know the CMs at the desk deal with enough pests - just want to make a request for a different location (if I have to) as smooth and courteous as possible. Should I just ask immediately as I check in if they would mind showing me the villa location prior to finalizing so that I might have the opportunity to make any requests before they have essentially finished up?

I see that I am rather verbose today but so much appreciate everyone's input.

Everyone have a Disney day!!

This happened to us. They put us in a building in the 40's I think and I had requested close to the hospitality house. When she gave me the room number I asked if there was anything closer, she said no but I asked her (very nicely) to check again. There was something in building 16 ready so I lucked out. As long as you ask nicely and are ready for possibly not getting what you not matter how nicely you ask, ask anytime during the check in!

The last time I stayed at OKW, she looked and was going to put us in building 15. I wasn't crazy about the location, I was worried about road noise. We had a car so I didn't care about close to HH. I asked her to check again and she found us a great room in 37. So it doesn't hurt to ask. I would say before they start looking "what is available, I requested......".

I did this at Christmas when he gave me the location I realized it was first floor and I much prefer the upper floors (even having to lug baggage up those stairs). He did find me a second floor unit in the Turtle Pond area which had been my original request. One time they actually showed me three villas that were available at check in and let me take my pick - I ended up with one I would not chose again but did not realize it was a bus turn around when I picked it. We had a great trip anyway just with more noise as the bus pulled through the turnaround in front of that building.

Anyone interested in the resort layout for OKW should take a look at this thread - especially post #4 by WebmasterDoc:

Be sure to click on the link for the Building Summary if you want to know where the 2 bedroom units are. If you click through, you might even find a similar link for the BCV, SSR & HH, but keep in mind that the post is from 2002!

I always take this with me.

Thanks again for all of these great responses!!

I've saved the map to my PC and have added my own notes and will just have to bring this in with me when I check in!

What a wealth of information you all are - thanks so much!!!
