We are leaving for WDW and OKW on Wednesday...just wondering if the pin trading is still very popular. I was wondering if I should bring pins down for trading or has this fade ended
Please let use know
Thanks :jester:

You will find pintrading is as popular as ever. Nearly all cast members have lanyards for trading (except food service).

Guests congregate at various locations. There are tables available for trading in front of Epcot pin central. There is also a table in WoD in DTD in the clocks and collectables room. People often sit on the brick planters near the DTD pin cart and outside Exhibition Hall in MK.

There is a regular Friday night pin meet at the Contemporary Resort. I think that gets underway about 7 PM.

Hope this helps.:)

Eeyore's Pal is right. Kathryn Bell [pintrader] hosts a great pin meet on Friday nights at the Contemporary. It really nice this time of year because it's still so hot and muggy here. It does start officially around 7, but folks have shown up as early as 5:30 or so. We bail out of work on Friday, grab the kids, and away we go! It's a wonderful family atmosphere. The kids often bring games to play and we all sprawl on the couches and floor. We bring snacks to ward off the munchies - that and Disney food is pricey - more money for pins that way. Poppy Claus [raulandpinboy] plays pin games with the younger guests and there's an lot of yukking up going on. We get a lot of opportunity to mingle with guests because we're right in the middle of the Concourse.

CM Scott runs the pin station there and does a great job! He plays show music, and often serenades us - he's got a fantastic set of pipes. He and Jeff, his cohort, have their hands full, but manage to keep things from getting out of hand.

The meet usually runs until 11 when they close the cart. Then, we usually move as a pack to the Grill downstairs where we take over the restaurant and often carry on until ridiculous hours of the morning.

Kathryn keeps us honest and informal. Like I said, it's a great family atmosphere - a great place for kids or those of us fairly new to pin trading to get the hang of thing in an environment where we don't usually have to worry about getting sharked. In contrast, the Villians room at Downtown Disney is on your feet, and much more serious and businesslike. It's a great time. Hope to see you there!

It does not make me very happy to continue to hear that the people who trade at Down Town Disney are sharks or trade a lot harder than those from the Contemporary. I'm one of the pintraders that go to Down Town Disney three to four times per week, but also go to the pin meets at the Contemporary. This is creating a negative atmosphere for those of us who have more time to pin trade than others. Any of you who would like to trade during other days of the week, feel free to go to Down Town Disney and give the traders there a chance to prove these rumors are not true.
In no way am I attacking anyone, I'm just trying to make pintading accross property the same for all who enjoy this hobbie of ours!
Thanks again.
