Hi,

We just returned from a wonderful 2 wks. in Orlando. This was our first family trip to Orlando and our first stay in a "timeshare" unit.

The first week was spent at OKW in a 2 bedroom we got from trading our Marriott Kauai. We were in unit # 2714, which is across the HH and had great open golf course view. The unit was supplied with a bag of coffee, creamer, sugar, shampoo and soap in the baths, dish soap, a box of cascade, one box of Tide. At the mid week tidy, all towels were replaced and any items we used were replaced.

OKW is a wonderful, relaxing resort. The unit was huge!!! Our boys (6 & 4) loved having their own room, bed, and tv. We arrived Saturday afternoon ( May 18) and our unit wasn't ready yet. We were told that they were full so plz. check back at 4:00. We took the boat to Downtown Disney, and ate and shopped, returned at 4:00 and got our key. We spent the rest of the day at the pool. I counted only 7 people in the entire pool! Everyone must have been at the parks.

We were able to visit the DVC and were lucky to be the 100th tour of the week and it was only Tuesday! We got our picture taken, and Fast Pass for 10 different rides that have no time limit or expiration, couple of other trinkets. We looked at the BCV and BWV models and they were beautiful. I do agree that depending on what you want, the DVC resort choices have something for everyone.

After looking over the info we were given, touring the resorts, we decided to not purchase into DVC at this time...though I still look at the resale sites everyday!

Our second week was spent at Horizons and our kids loved it mainly because of the pool which had a pirate ship, slides, water cannons, etc. They wanted to stay at the resort instead of going to the parks because of the pool. The pool was full of kids everyday! The 2 bedroom unit was clean and nice but my DH & I liked OKW better...we were really missing the jacuzzi!

When we go back to Orlando again, I will definitely try to spend all 2 weeks on property, just love that Disney Magic!

Thanks to all on this board for all the wonderful information and tips that helped to make our trip truly fantastic!

Aloha!
Jennifer

Jenifer,
Glad you enjoyed your stay at OKW. Maybe down the road you will change your mind;) . But living in Hawai:D , I understand your decision.

Glad you had a wonderful stay!:)

Aloha Jennifer!

We love your state. Airfare to get there is expensive though.

Glad you enjoyed your stay at OKW and in Orlando.

My parents bought an "every other year" timeshare on Maui. We thought about it, but joining DVC made more sense for us because we are only a two hour flight from Orlando (Indianapolis has pretty good deals into Orlando usually). As much as I love Hawaii, we usually only go about every six years because of how far away it is and the cost of airfare.

Littlestar, we are about with you too. We just returned last month from a 3 week Hawaii trip. The flight is almost more than I can stand!! We went 1st class this time, so at least we had streching room. We nearly bought into a timeshare while over there this time too, but decided to wait until after our new house is done. I would like about an every 4 year one!:p

I guess from our perspective the flight is a long one but considering that the standard flight to the West Coast is 5 hours, the East Coast isn't that bad...the price you pay for living in paradise!

I think our main reason for not buying is that our kids seem to prefer Disneyland at this point and with our Marriott we are able to trade into DVC when we do feel the urge to return to WDW.

However, if DVC builds on the West Coast we'll be the first ones to sign up.

Aloha!
Jennifer
