OKW Waitlist went through!

Oh, my goodness.. the last two days (and the last three weeks) have been crazy.

So my family had booked at our home resort - OKW- at the ten month mark for initially Nov 30 - Dec 3 (so F-M). We looked at the 7 month mark, and outside of Saratoga, there wasn't really a full stay for another resort, and we were fine keeping OKW, so we decided to keep it.

Then the flights.... we had vouchers at home that I couldn't use until I finished work, and by the time I got home from work, Friday and Monday flgihts had jumped up beyond what I was comfortable paying. However, Thursday night and Tueday were much more doable, so I booked those, and added on a night at the end for OKW.

We originally were going to pay cash for Thursday night, since we couldn't get OKW that night already, so I booked AoA, then switched to POR a few months later, since we had heard good things.

Initially there were five..... then there was six. We decided to bring along our 4 year old cousin, so we had to switch from POR to a room that slept at least six. This was three weeks ago, so of course nothing was really available, so we tried to WL an AKV value 2 bedroom (at my sister's insistence..I'm still trying to get it through to her that some of these rooms are extremely hard to get, especially at certain times of the year), and we had a cash reservation for a SSR 2 bedroom.

I convinced her to let me WL the OKW 2 bedroom, since it was only a handful of points more than the AKV Value 2 bedroom, and would minimize our need to move.

I would peek occasionally to see if an AoA room or a FW cabin would pop up with the passholder discount (snagged a cabin res on Thursday), or I would peek at the DVC site to see if any other 2 bedrooms woiuld pop up.

Then SSR came up yesterday... so I cancelled the FW cabin and booked SSR on points.

Then today... our OKW WL came through!! It took me by surprise since I had checked about 30 minutes before, and nothing. It wasn't until my sister looked at her MDE, and found they had made OKW a continuous reservation for the whole trip. (I thought I would have to request that myself....)

So glad it came through, and we'll be in one place the entire time!

Congratulations! I'm very happy for you that your waitlist came through. I just went through this with my request for 12/2-12/7 at BWV, I made request mid-Feb and had pretty much given up hope that it would happen. I just got word a week ago that it came through. I too had been stalking the DVC site looking for other alternatives, I looked into paying cash for a room but that sort of defeats having DVC and I wasn't willing to pay the rack rates...I would say to keep your fingers crossed, the pixie dust fairies are out there. So far I have managed to get my waitlist request every time. Good luck to those still waiting.
