Help please! Is there much to choose between OKW and SSR? Which one would you choose and why?

A few previous threads here, there might be more with a bit of searching.

Stayed at OKW 3 times, next year will be the 4th. Never been inside any rooms at SSR only been to look around the resort and didn't like it as much as OKW so we stay there.
Main things about SSR are better CS option and nearer to DTD, OKW bigger room just been refurbed and 2 beds rather than 1 bed & 1 sofa bed at SSR.
Don't think you can go wrong with either resort we just prefer OKW.

stayed in both and like OKW best

OKW felt more homely

Stayed at both
OKW plus points
Rooms are big
OKW minus points
Think you would require a car if staying as unable to walk to places in evenning
SSR plus points
Close to Down-town Disney (can walk)
Close to Crossroads restaurants (can walk)
Close to Hess at down town Disney for supplies (can walk)
Can stay easily without a car
Has 2 signature pools (both have counter service)
Has a nice kids water play area (grandstand)
SSR minus points
rooms smaller than OKW
Can you think which one we usaly stay at:thumbsup2 but have stayed at both and love both for there own charms

We have stayed at both - we are going back to OKW for the second time next year - it's the bed situation that swings it for me. I can see that you have two younger children - think they would be more comfortable in a queen bed as opposed to a double sofa bed (assuming of course you will be choosing a studio). For us, my DD will be 18, so a sofabed would be a no go. The rooms are larger at OKW anyway in all room types.

Saying that we did love our view at SSR - over DTD (Congress Park area) - walk to DTD was great and quick and the CS options are superior to OKW.

We stayed at OKW for the first time this year and loved it. Previously we stayed at POR and PORFQ. We loved the studio room we had but have decided to book a 1 bed for our trip next year to have more space.

We loved the feel of the place it was very laid back and is very pretty with all the pastel coloured buildings. We were in Millers road and it was a short walk to a pool (which was empty everytime I went) also bus stop really close by. It was a short walk to the Hospitality house as well.

I can see what other people have said about it being very spread out and some of the buildings are far away from the main area. The buses however do always stop at the Hospitality house before heading onto their main destination so you don't have to walk.

We loved the boat to DTD which is why we chose to stay in a resort in the smae area as previous trips.

SSR looks really nice too but we had a look and found that it was not to our taste. The only plus for us was the proximity to DTD. We would not rule out staying there but for the moment we have fallen for OKW.

Does the boat from OKW to DTD stop at SSR?

Each resort has its own boat service in high season, low season they used to stop at both resorts, not sure if this is still the case. Either way there is a boat from both resorts to DTD.

We've been staying at OKW for the last 11 years and just love it. We love the laid back, relaxed feeling of the place. The spacious villas and decor plus many other little things. Having said that we've never stayed at SSR and have never felt the need to check it out. So I'm obviously biased but it would have to be OKW all the way for us!! :thumbsup2

have always found that OKW was the least Disneyfied hotel on site.As we have stayed at nearly all the hotels on site(only monorail hotels not stayed in).Love to stay in each as love all

We had it happen a couple of times on our recent trip once on the way to DTD and once on the way back, added a couple of mins to the trip but overall not a problem. Rest of the time the boats were direct.

We have booked a one bedroom villa and chose OKW over SSR for 3 main reasons:
1 - it has the sleeper chair in the living room which DD loves
2 - we don like the layout of the SSR one beds (stayed at BCV & BWV) which have the same layout
3 - they are the latest rooms on property :thumbsup2

Looking forward too it :goodvibes
