Trying to decide between these two. We would be getting the 2 bedroom villa for a week in April. Myself, DH, DS 5, DD 2, and my parents both in thier 50s and have never been to WDW before. Oh and we have a service dog. Any feedback on either resort?

most of the building at OKW don't have elevators. Only 62, 63, 64 have elevators.

each and every building at SSR has elevators.

so unless the dog has been trained on walking up steps (which it probably has) I would go with SSR.

I love OKW it is peacefully and relaxed.

SSR is a little busier but not greatly.

both OKW and SSR have lots of handicapped rooms. (well at present time they do)

OKW's rooms are MUCH larger. The resort is very relaxed & really has great themeing. I would say OKW without question. SSR is nice but for your group I would definitely suggest going with more room at OKW. In comparison to SSR, OKW's location is about the same to everything but DTD, but OKW also has a boat to DTD which is lovely & only adds about 5 - 10 minutes on the boat.

Yes, most of the buildings don't have elevators, but when you make your reservation, tell them you have a service dog & need a bottom floor or a building with an elevator & you won't have to worry. Of all the times I've stayed there I've always had the bottom floor.

I will also add that OKW would be my choice. Bigger rooms, better feeling, more tranquil feeling. The steps wouldn't be an issue for me at all dog or not (I'm sure your dog should be trained for that anyway). I feel that SSR is too "busy" and too "cold" for my tastes. I don't like how "exposed" I feel walking around. A lot more confusing IMO too.

I agree. OKW is amazing. I have eaten there before and it's really beautiful.

Good luck and have a great trip!
