We will be going 9/22-9/29 - party of 6, DH, myself, MIL, FIL and DS6 & DD2. We have stayed at BLT and AKL in the villas before. Neither available with FD for our dates. Right now we are booked at OKW, but I am having doubts. We have used on-site dining (QS) both times before and worry that OKW doesn't have much and the pool looks kind of boring. We will have our car but my DH does prefer the buses once we arrive to Disney. We will have Park Hoppers and eat at Epcot for dinner most nights. So if you have stayed at either or both would love to hear your thoughts! TIA!

We are OKW lovers, but the things you are concerned about there are well-founded. The things we like at OKW include the size of the units, the large balconies, full-size washers and dryers, and parking outside your villa. We've always had good bus service there as well. BUT the CS window is limited. Olivia's, the TS restaurant is good.

The feature pools are better at SSR, especially for kiddos the ages of yours. They have zero entry and water-play areas. The CS has a much larger menu, and the Turf Club is really good. We didn't use the busses when we stayed there, but I've heard they have some issues.

Good luck with your decision.

We are DVC members and our home resort is SSR, but we love them both. Olivia's at OKW is great for breakfast and we love the bar and restaurant at SSR for dinner.

We love to walk and the great thing about the two resorts is that you can walk from one to the other. There is a pathway that takes you from the back side of OKW to the Hospitality House and boat landing at SSR. And then if you are really ambitious, you can walk to Downtown Disney.

We are going to WDW over Labor Day and staying at OKW - can't wait.

to me SSR is more upscale - but OKW wins because it has more space in each villa and studio.

plu OKW has 2 queen beds in the studio - SSR has the one queen bed and the double (full) sleeper sofa.

for eating would go with SSR - Congress Park - then DD (marketplace) is only 5 to 10 minutes walk.

for OKW would go South Pointe - building 55 or 56 - then you can still walk to DD (it goes to west side not marketplace) - but you have more space in your unit.

that say if you eating most nights at Epcot - then either would do. they both equally as close (oKW is a tiny bit closer) to Epcot. It is a short bus ride.

or you could wait - seems awfully early to me for Sept to be sold out. Now my DSIL's school has changed their fall break to that week - but still can't believe it is that popular. Now the next week 10/1/ to 11/15 is popular because of the food/wine festavial. but Sept????

We have stayed at both and enjoyed both of them, however we felt SSR was a bit large for getting around to things. OKW has great room sizes and Olivia's is really good but there isn't much for CS. I think it sort of depends how much time your spending at your resort.
