So...finally gave up on trying to find airfare for less than a jillion dollars for March and moved up my trip to mid January. Moved from OKW ( home resort) to SSR. Have never stayed at either. One of the nights at OKW was sold out so was okay moving to SSR, it looks beautiful.

I know the rooms are probably smaller, but are they A LOT smaller than OKW?

Since you've never stayed at OKW, you really won't notice the size difference ;) Can't tell you much more than that, as I haven't stayed at OKW yet (soon though :goodvibes )

SSR is my home resort, and I love it! If you have any other questions about SSR, let me know and I'll do my best to answer as will everyone else around here :flower3:

OKW is my home resort since 1994 when OKW was DVC! If you haven't stayed there you will have nothing to compare it to, but we love the space at OKW. We do miss it when we stay elsewhere (only stayed at BCV abd BWV but its quite a difference. The thing we enjoy even more about OKW is having your car parked right outside your villa. No long corridors to walk!

In less than 2wks I'll be back at my "happy place"
I'll be staying 3 nights OKW, 2 nights Swan, 2 nights Saratoga
(first time at OKW, first time at Saratoga)

Plymouthmom -
Good for you getting better airfare and going in January. We did January for the first time this year and it was cool and relatively empty at WDW!!!
We just returned last week from 9 nites at OKW followed by 5 at SSR - our home resort. While everything at SSR is brand spanking new, the space difference and darker colors was striking for us after OKW. I still can't get past the bizarre "toilet room" set up at SSR.
Will you see a difference? Yes - as all resorts are different. Will you give it more than a moments thought or be distressed?? NOPE! Any DVC resort (for space alone) beats a regular room!
Enjoy!!!

I am also trying SSR for the first time in a 2 bedroom villa but we are 5 guests and I am worried that if we get a dedicated 2 bedroom, is it really a queen and pull-out in the second room in all of the villas? Would it be wiser for me to request a lock-out to ensure a 3rd bed. I don't want the kids sleeping on a pull-out for 10 nights!

I know I posted on your other thread about the activities :rolleyes1

A dedicated means you will have a king bed in the MBR and 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom. The pullout sofa will be in the living room.

A lockout is a 1br (king MBR + living room) attached/connecting with a studio (queen + sofa bed)

FWIW, the sofa beds at SSR are very comfy and my kids have slept on them for 10 nights with no problem :goodvibes

THANKS everyone for the great feedback! We got a great price on airfare, couldn't be happier. We saved about 2000 dollars changing our dates!

Looking forward to SSR, looked at the pix on all ears last night. Are there any threads to pictures here?

You can try the picture thread that is a sticky at the top of the DVC Mousecellaneous forum.

I agree with posts that state since you have not stayed at OKW, you will not know what you are missing in room sizes. There is a difference though and the main difference is in the living room/kitchen area. SSR is much smaller than OKW there. The bedrooms are set up differently but not a huge difference. Even though SSR rooms are smaller, it doesn't make it worse. Hope you enjoy your stay.
