YES I’ve searched, maybe I’m doing something wrong! Can someone PLEASE give me the link to the official OKW info thread! And any other thread that can be useful!
THANK YOU!

SSR is the same way. Both are totally DVC with no hotel option. So you find them on the DVC Boards.

And yet, you can book them as hotel rooms through the Disney site as any other resort. I understand they are primarily DVC resorts but they're not 100% DVC stays.

There are no hotel rooms at OKW or SSR, just villas (studios, one bedroom, two bedroom, grand villa). You can book them through the Disney website, but you are booking a deluxe villa, not a hotel room. Beach Club Villas are part of the Beach Club Resort which includes the hotel. Boardwalk Villas are part of the Boardwalk Resort which includes the Boardwalk Inn. Bay Lake Tower Villas are a part of the Contemporary Resort which includes the Contemporary Hotel.

SSR and OKW are 100% DVC resorts. Owners at those resorts pay for all the expenses of the resort. The only reason you can book a villa through the Disney Reservation Center website is because DVC owns a very small percentage of the resort (usually for maintenance and renovation purposes), they have taken points back from owners who failed to pay their dues or mortgage, they have taken points back through Right of First Refusal or an owner at those resorts have used their points for the Disney Collection (cruises, ABD, non-DVC hotel stays) and the associated units must be sold for cash to pay for those non-DVC vacations.

I understand that. It just seems weird to segregate all of the other DVC resorts into a separate resort board area, while I can read about Boardwalk, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Polynesian, etc in this board section. I was reminded of this while poking around for Old Key West threads and didn't think every single thread for that resort would be in the DVC area. I get that there should be a separate area for DVC owners and their topics, but when it is general topic about the resort that anyone in the public can stay at, should those types of threads be segregated from the other resort threads?

I think it was done that way because Boardwalk, Poly, GF, etc have separate properties that have 100% regular resort rooms. SSR and OKW do not, they are 100% deluxe Villas.

The boards were set up a long time ago long before renting got so popular. Hardly anyone needed to find out about OKW and SSR unless they were DVC. Most guests don't even consider them. I like the DVC boards having DVC information and not mixing it up with the general resorts board.
