Hi. Checking into OKW on 5/30 - 6/5 & potentially longer?? Any recommendations on where to request a room if I am permitted? I prefer a quieter setting :) This is my first time above a moderate resort - can't wait! OKW looks so incredible! Thanks in advance for everyone's input!! :cool1:

Most OKW studios are on the ends of the buildings, so the views from the balconies aren't the best, but they aren't awful, either. Many will be in close proximity for the A/C units for the building, but you can't hear them inside.

There really isn't an "awful" bldg at OKW, but some of the nicest ad quietest (IMO) are along the canal that connect OKW to Dtd, in bldg 45, 46 and 55. The buildings in the Turtle Pond area 30 to 37 are pretty quiet and will provide golf/wooded views.

Free washers and dryers for studio guests are provided by each pool. Unless they've changed out to a newer model, they look like traditional coin-op machines, just push the coin slots in without any coins. :) You'll need to provide your own laundry detergent, Tide is available at the gift shop or in a vending machine in the laundry room, or you can bring your own.

Remember that OKW has no elevators, except in bldgs 62, 63 & 64.

Chuck S is right. If you want peace and quiet and still a great location, bldgs 46 or 55 are terrific. You are close to the pool, the laundry, the bus stop, close to DTD if you care to walk, but you enjoy the water view and wildlife of a park setting. We have spent some of our happiest days there!
In 55, we were next to the pool and could hear the kids outside playing. It wasn't bad, but not as quiet as 46. But boy was it handy to walk outside and hit the hottub and the pool!
Actually, I think all of OKW is quiet and relaxed compared to the more 'active' resorts so there isn't a bad spot. But some bldgs are even better than others.
Have a great stay!

Of the buildings I have stayed in, I prefer 37 & 43. Neither have a bus route running outside but it's not far to the bus stop. Being on the ends, studios tend to get alot of bus noise when they ride by.

I agree with 45 and 46, but don't overlook building 15, 16, 22 or 11 either. The only buildings we have not liked the studio we used were in buildings 29 and 40. I didn't care much for 38 either, but that's because we got stuck in one of those corner rooms.

Which buildings are the HH guaranteed location now? I'm fuzzy on this one. tks.

Thank you SO MUCH for all of the info and map. I am even more excited now :) I'm assuming when I check in I can make a request?

Yes, but of course, it depends upon what is actually available at that time. :)

I was there last summer. Hated my studio. Room was dirty. Balcony was really dirty, and completely overgrown with vegetation. I asked to be near a bus stop, and was near one, but the way the landscpaping is, I had to walk more than 100 yards further (can't just cut through the bushes, etc.) Yet the bus noise, and conversations of people disembarking, were loud and clear in my room all night. It was like being in an inner city, above a city bus stop. I left there after 2 nights, went to SSR. LOVED SSR!!! I had a studio overlooking the golf course. So quiet, and loved sitting out on the balcony, morning, afternoon, and night, whenever I was back at the room.
So, I hope you enjoy OKW, and have a great stay. Also, try SSR sometime.

How long would the hike be to get from the turtle pond road or south point road apartments be?
It seems an awfully long way from HH (although I don't plan to spend much time there)

We will be going by car so I don't particularly need to be near a bus stop and all that noise but I also don't want to be far from the parking.

Oh and the buildings with the lifts, are they noisy and do they have nice studios?

About an 8 to 10 minute walk should get you to HH from anywhere in the resort. Maybe 15 minutes if you walk slowly. Mapping it on Google Earth, it shows to be just 6/10 mile from the farthest building to HH. The equivalent of 1/2 way around World Showcase at EPCOT.

Each building has it's own nearby parking area, unlike the "hotel" style DVCs, the "condo" style DVCs (SSR & OKW) are more like a village with convenient parking

As the 3 buildings with elevators are the newest, and were kind of squeezed into the site of the original sales center, they have the least convenient parking. They are also often held for those with mobility issues.

Thankyou :goodvibes
A family member has some mobility issues so it I guess is just a matter of weighing up pros and cons. I suspect closer parking and a nicer location near pools and a hot tub would take priority

to the HH. Every bus that goes through the property stops at the HH before leaving. So if you want to go to the HH, you can step on any bus and hop off at HH.:thumbsup2
