We are planning a trip this fall and have only three choices (all 2 bedroom): AKL (Kidani Village Savannah View), OKW or SSR. It will be me, my DH, and 3 children. Two of our children are young (ages 3 and 4) and one of them is autistic, so ease of transporation to the parks would be nice. Anyone think one option stands out as our best option?

:confused3

OKW will be closest to all parks, then SSR, then AKV.

OKW has the largest rooms and huge balconies.

SSR has some really nice pools and play area for kids.

AKV Kidani will have an extra bathroom and the animals but no counter service.

They are all good choices.

all have only bus transportation to the theme parks.

both OKW and SSR have boat, walking and bus to DD.

OKW I think is your cheapest point wise route.

I have stayed at AKV in a 1 br and OKW in a studio. AKV is very relaxing, great pool and splash area for the kids, beautiful animals to see. Furthest parks are Epcot and MK, only a 20 min bus ride. Bus stops at Kidani before Jambo for the parks, Jambo first for downtown. The quick service at Jambo is a very quick shuttle ride or a 5 min walk. You can use the pool at Jambo too. We loved it at AKV and are returning this summer. OKW is also relaxing, and the pool looked fun for kids. I stayed here with just my husband and it was cold for swimming, but we used the hot tub. The boat ride to downtown is about 12 min. Bus service was excellent here. Not sure why but SSR doesn't appeal to me as much, and it is probably more points than OKW or AKV. I would stay at OKW again, especially for the low points. Cast members were equally friendly at both resorts. Hope that helps!
Have a great trip.:)

hmm resort wise I would say AKV kidani is the best for little kids. AKV kidani is my home resort, ssr is my wifes parents home resort . I have stayed in all 3.

kidani has the animals and has a TON of things to do with the kids. every night at 730 they have a drum circle. They have african crafts and things like that all through the day for kids. Also the kidani pool also has a big spray park type area that the kids will like.

Also since your in kidani you usually will be gauranteed a seat on the bus going to the parks.

OKW is my favorite; but for your small children, AKV is probably your best bet. The play area at the Kidani pool will trill them and as others have said, there are planned activities throughout the day.

We LOVE AKV-Kidani it's our home resort. Never stayed at OKW or SSR, but they really don't appeal to me. We just finished a stay at AKV and our 4 year old have a blast at the pool/water play area. He also enjoyed getting to see the animals and saying good night to them.

There is lots to do at AKV (crafts, movie nights, campfire not to mention the savanna!), but it is a bit longer of a bus trip to get to the parks.

Kidani offers an extra bathroom and a great play/splash area for smaller kids...my kids stayed there all day vs the pool! The dinning at Kidani is harder to access with little kids who might just want a simple fair, so Jambo is better for that reason.

None of them have great bus service to the parks...or I should say not the most convenient or quick. We've stayed at SSR and OKW and both take forever to get to the parks. We prefer OKW to SSR as it's a more quaint and relaxing resort and the rooms are way larger. If you stay there, I'd suggest you request being as close to the hospitality house as possible. That bus stop goes right out to the parks...last stop on the way out. But then coming in it is the last stop too...so you have to sit on the bus all the way through the resort. But you can get off at the 1st stop coming in and walk a short walk to your room...actually any of the buildings near that stop would be good too. You can then walk over to the HH bus stop when you want to go to the parks.

Now, AKV is a nice resort and we are looking forward to trying it out. My inlaws have stayed there. It is far out from the parks too. But, it has great theming.

All are good resorts. I have to disagree with the poster who said none of them have good bus service. We have bee membes at OKW for more than 15 years, and we have always had great bus sevice there. SSR has good service too. We have not had bad bus service at AKV either, but if yoy have an autistic child, the length of the bus trips from AKV will be a possible problem. While I think AKV is a wonderful resort with great adventures for families, I do think the proximaty of OKW to the parks and size and low price of the huge units will make it a better choice for you.

I agree we have never had bad service at any of the 3. We have had bus service to the MK from BCV and BWV, that took much longer than any of the 3 you listed.

All resorts can experience times of less than stellar service but over all I think they are about the same.

The ride might be shorter BUT at kidani you will always be gauranteed a seat on the bus going to the parks. Whats better a longer ride sitting or a little bit shorter ride standing.

The drive to magic kingdom from AKV is not that much longer then OKW.

If you are driving or renting a car you may want to factor in the ability to park nearly in front of you room at OKW. Otherwise, all three are great but AKV might be most entertaining for kids.
