We have booked a Standard 1 BR at OKW and I‘ve submitted a request for building 62 through Touringplans. The TP site indicates that this is a standard 1BR. Which area request should I make on the Disney site? I’m terrible with maps! Here are my options:

Thanks!

That’s an elevator building. Only one of three. I would not put a request for a particular building number, as if there is no availability for that building you’ll be put wherever. Look on the map and select the area you want and if you need first floor.

I’m not sure disney even uses Touringplans when assigning rooms. You should put your request through member services.

If you already made a request and want to keep it, and assuming it was actually one accepted, you should not use the online request while doing check-in. Using that online request wipes out prior requests that you made. Building 62, which you requested, is as close as you can get to the Hospitality House area without having a near Hospitality House room booked.

Moreover, of the four location requests given, Miller Rd area gives you a chance for 62 but also a chance to be very far away from HH area, Pennisular Rd area likewise could put you fairly close to very far way. South Point Road and Old Turtle Point Rd are both a significant distance from HH. In other words, none of the location requests work for what you want, and best process would be to call MS and make a request that you actually want and skip that online request section..

Thanks! Do you think 16 would be a better request? We’d like to be nearish the main pool but my number one would be to have a nice balcony. On our last stay we were assigned a room next to Buena Vista Blvd and our balcony was basically unusable because of the traffic noise.

The concern mentioned above was the belief that requesting a specific building is more likely a request not to be realized, particularly if requesting a popular elevator building, and that concern is likely correct. You could possibly just put in an either or request -- 16 or 62 to raise your chances somewhat.

Thanks!

I’m not an owner, we were moved from Caribbean Beach.

Any recommendations for a Standard 1 BR with a nice balcony? Maybe no parking lot and definitely not on a busy road?

DVC and room request are not guaranteed. Since OKW is so large with loads of views, you will most likely not get a specific room, you'd be lucky to get a specific building too. This is not like a hotel. As a pp mentioned, TouringPlans might not even be looked at, look at a map and go for a section.

There is an internal bus that goes to the main pool. The other buses stop there too, but I'm not sure what the order is. You can find someone on these boards who knows how it works better than I do.

The only incorrect thing on this map that I can see is the turnaround for the bus at South Point. It now goes to the end of the road and circles by Bldg49 and 50, not by 51 and 52.

Many times the three elevator buildings are reserved for medical needs. Otherwise, Bldg 27 is a short walk across the bridge to the main pool and the Hospitality House. It is next to the Peninsular Rd bus stop which is the first stop. Bus route is Peninsular Rd, South Point, Turtle Pond, Millers Rd and HH. Internal bus hits HH first and last.

We liked building 27 but, we were ground floor front of the building. We could definitely hear the busses. I prefer Miller Rd 17, 18, 19 and have heard many people like Turtle Pond too. Being near HH is not a huge priority for us.

As a cash guest being relocated from Caribbean Beach, you should know that several years ago DVC Members, through official DVC publications, were specifically requested not to fax requests to our resorts, and that any such requests were basically ignored. If I were you, I would call or email Disney Reservations and make my requests that way.

As far as location, if your choice of buildings includes 11 to 14 and 23 to 16 you will be unlikely to get those requests. Those buildings are part of the Near Hospitality booking category for DVC Members. Of course, now, as the resorts are likely no where near capacity, your odds are much greater. Also know that I would not be at all surprised if OKW, being so large, is operating on a limited capacity until the COVID-19 virus is under full control and tourism picks up to near normal levels, which means some buildings/area of the resort may be sitting idle.

Know that since you are in a one bedroom unit, there was a design change during construction that may make a difference to you depending upon your traveling party. Building up to and including building 29 have one entrance to the bathroom, through the master bedroom. Building 30 and about have two bathroom entrances, through the master bedroom and through the laundry room. So if anyone is sleeping on the fold outs in the living room area, that would be something to consider. All buildings, except building 64 have adjacent parking areas. No balcony at OKW actually overlooks a parking area, all will have wooded, water or golf course views.

I have rented points from an owner for a 2 BR at OKW on Oct 3-5. 4 adults. We do not intend to use Disney busses, will have own car. What we would love is most quiet, secluded with a water view. The woodsier, watery-er the better. Stairs not an issue. For view from balcony, what level is the best? THanks so much!

Our trip is long over. We received the exact room I requested in building 62. It was great!

That's great! We've requested the elevator buildings several times, but only got one once, when we were moved from an unacceptable room that also had lots of road noise. Although we weren't in building 62, I visited friends who were staying there once-beautiful views from that building.
